Kick off the Foreign Film Festival With "Suspiria"
A bunch of us are all gonna sit near the forums and watch "Suspiria" on Saturday to kick off the festival...a day late, lol.
It should be availble at Blockbuster.
So, Saturday night. The time hasn't been decided (and whether there will be one hasn't been determined...)

Its a very famous Italian horror film about a woman who takes a job as a seamstress for a theater company, if i'm not mistaken. There's an electric looking peacock on the cover of the film and a woman looking mighty scared holding a piece of cloth she's been sowing.

The problem is that there is no Blockbuster in Germany and I have looked around in many video stores and none of them had Suspiria so far!

Lecter! Maybe you can order it over the internet? I don't know how these things work? Are you going to join our film festival? Pick a country or start your own? Lol....I forget, I think I even sent you a pm asking even though I know how much you said you didn;t really like German film. You did express interest in Martial Arts though, and Xia is hosting a thread you can partake of that includes are the m.a.movies!
Glad to see you drop on in,

You ever see that episode of Married with Children where Kelly has to go on a Game Show. She crams so much info into her head that she forgets her own father, and when a question is asked about him misses it.
Thats kind of like Dolce.

Whether you find it scary or not depends on your tolerance for scary movies. It's undoubtedly nerve wracking, though.

Like the new avatar, everyone? I figured it was appropiate for our Suspiria night. I believe it's the original one sheet that was released for the film in Italy. It's quite stunning when viewed at it's regular size, but it's still pretty great.

Honestly, dolce, I feel for you. The fact that you're choosing Suspiria as one of your first horror movie experiences is, well, gutsy. It's not like any other film ever made, let alone horror films. Just be prepared for something akin to a nightmare. The plot makes little to no sense, but you are absolutely bombarded by horrific (yet surprisingly beautiful) images. Argento's use of color in this film is simply unmatched. It literally looks like he painted on some of the frames. Every frame just oozes atmosphere. You're in for a treat.

I'm thinking of joining ...
Don't know if i have the time ... but the fact that it is a horror movie makes me interested.
Anyone care to tell me a few things.
A) Is this movie in subtitles
B) Brief plot description
C) Is it a true horror movie?

A) No.
B) From IMDB - A young American dancer travels to Europe to join a famous ballet school. She eventually discovers that the school is merely a front for something much more sinister.
C) What do you mean by that?

Blah. They didn't have it at Hollywood Video. And, that is, at the one I went to, they didn't have it in the catalog either. I won't support Blockbuster for a small reason - their refusal to carry The Last Temptation of Christ. But, I did hear from Zingaling that he couldn't find it in Blockbuster either. Hmm...
I'll check the library catalog.

So ... I wanted to watch this tomorrow ... I went to Blockbuster ... and they DON'T have it.
The bad thing is that I told 2 friends to come over and watch it with me ...
So ... now I need another choice of a real good horror movie that I can look for at my blockbuster and get for tomorrow. Any ideas??!

Perhaps you could suggest a movie that's similarly gory (and good...unless you all are suggesting Suspiria for the experience...not for the quality) yet, a little more well known? Or, is there another Italian horror film that might not have the cult status but is usually found in video stores?
