Uh, LOTR weren't nominated because of Jackson. They were nominated because they were LOTR and uber-event pictures with classy sources.
King Kong showed that he's far from an Oscar Golden Boy yet.

There really is no reason IMO to believe that PJ is this Academy-darling outside of LOTR. Hell, I think there's actually a good chance he misses out on Lovley Bones (I'm starting to think that it will be this years Revolutionary Road). Nah. Lovely Bones is way more well-known.
