* On Maggie, like to see how everyone would act in a foreign country if they were kidnapped like that.....
* Surprised no one has mentioned the 2 car chases...thought they were pretty good...especially the second one where he wasdriving the wrong way on the freeway.
* Only thing that was BS....was that none of his friends came along for the job....it was one of their best friends daughter....and big deal they had a job for money but in 99% of movies, they would have shown up at some part.
* Overall I thought it would be better, consdiering all of the rave reviews...it just wasn't great...but considering this had Luc Besson and Liam, both of whom I like, it was good enough.

Umm, I think most people were talking about the scenes prior to her being kidnapped. She's barely in it afterwards.

Ok, was thinking of the kidnapping scene. But anyway, thought of her as just a spoiled little rich girl.

One of those movies that just makes you laugh because of how awesome/insane it is at certain points. Definitely a great crowd pleaser, but Neeson is painfully tied up in the most cliched dialogue of all-time when he's not kicking ass, and sometimes the movie tries to be a little too clever and fails.

Re: Taken
As an advocate for old-school movies, just in a time of CGI-overkilled films that are short on character, I liked this one in particular.
I think Besson creates one of the most remarkable, thoroughgoing and consistent characters in the 21st century of action flicks. Though the plot is very much predictable and a little sleazy, it's just this straightforward style which is above reproach.
Like District B13, this one is a quite enjoyable movie by Morel/Besson, something I hope to see more of this in the years to come.
I was a little disappointed, Neeson was awesome and had its moments but I definitely agree that you could've subbed in Seagal or Van Damme and it would've fit right in with the DTVs.

I really enjoyed this film, but the mood was already set for it to almost play like a comedy in my theater.
For the scene that Liam Neeson is on the phone, and then the caller on the other line says "Good luck," a woman in the theater yelled out "Oh my God!" Much of the theater burst out laughing after that because it was so random. After that, Liam Neeson just beating up people made for an enjoyable movie. The "horse" thing was a little much, and the fact that in the entire movie, the only injury he really got was from jumping onto the ship rather than any of the people he fought, to the random Britney Spears' like clone, this was almost playing like a comedic thriller in a weird way, despite its serious nature. This movie was fluff, but still a lot of fun. I actually hope they make a sequel, where he saves that singer in the movie again. I feel like the possibilities for that one are endless. They never even explained why anything that happened to the singer happened either, but still set the tone for the movie.

Neeson needs to do more action roles. He rocked.

Re: Taken
Considering how little he has done of it, he'd have to do plentiful of action roles to become a typical action hero.
Moreover, after the success of this one, you can bet that most of the screenplays that will land at his doorstep will be actioners.

It would've worked better as a comedy if it wasn't so fucking brutal all the time. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or not at certain points.
Certainly Liam can do better than this.

Everything doesn't have to be constructed like videogames these days - - I didn't miss a boss level in Taken, it was already pretty far out as it was...

6/10 -> C
It's awesomely fast paced, but partly because it's trying to cover up it's not that good of a movie. It's pretty stupid in fact. It's biggest asset it Liam Neeson, who's superb in his role. His line delivery is among the best ones in these types of action movies.
