I made this thread a few years ago but thought this is a good time to reintroduce it.

in the 80s, having that token black guy became increasingly common. In the 90s, the token black guy became a norm but replaced by the token asian dude. its '00s and having asians at least in supporting roles in now extremely common, lead generally if you're a woman i've noticed.

its not just slumdog .. indians are generally cropping up as the token 'black' dudes of '00s throughout and i believe now they're cemented. So who next?

- Muslims in general?
- Arabs?
- Brown people in general
- Russians? (no, not just cause of the cold war)

I'm thinking arabs, in general will start seeing screen time in the '10s. What do you think?

Russian sounds like a good bet. Other than the political thing... Olympics will have a lot of hype about Canada vs Russia in hockey for example... the russian players will only get bigger as their careers go on.

I figure incesteous couples will eventually become a civil rights movement so look out for that too

yea but you guys are mistaking the thread. its essentially asking who the '10s 'token black dude' is going to be. hispanics never got the chance to be the token dudes. tv or movies, theres a good chance theres a hispanic around already.

The way I see it most of the world and left wing movement already agrees the government having any say over what people can and cannot to do with their bodies, is wrong. Especially for an act as non-consequential as sex. I can't see any supporter of race and gay equal rights holding out against similar rights for incesteous couples without being huge hypocrites for everyone. If the ball starts rolling, you'd think they'd all agree that equal rights for everyone trumps all, regardless of their personal disgust. Someone just has to get the ball rolling.

Just on a fundamental rights level it's the EXACT same situation and injustice as interracial and homosexual sex, only with the cultural taboo set back a hundred years, with the only argument in all 3 situations being "It's wrong!/That's not god's way!" Actually after thinking of it they probably won't get to the cultural acceptance homosexuality is in now until like 2050 as bABA said, though legalizing coupling or sex at all shouldn't be too far a leap. Even after interracial and homosexual coupling ceased to be illega, it still took a good 50-100 years for people to get over their prejudices, with the latter still far from that...
