Hitch's strategy over the complete changes to its tv ads.
What is strategy when a trailer changes completely over time?
For example - When watching the Hitch trailer on tv, I have noticed lots of changes over time.
- When it first came out, it was mixed between scenes will Will Smith and the sexy girl - Eva Mendes - and the fat white guy - Doug James, I think.
- Then, the ads for this movie became mostly with the fat white guy.
- Even during the Super Bowl, I think it was all the fat white girl and no sexy girl.
- Now this week as the movie is opening, it is only sexy girl and no fat white guy.
In the above, did this happen purposely as to get both the white guy and the sexy girl both featured in the ads or was the fat white guys ads so unappealing - maybe focus groups - that now they changers direction and are concentrating on the sexy white girl.

What the hell are you smoking? First, it's Kevin James who plays Doug on The King of Queens, not Doug James. Second, you messed it up, because you said fat white girl, when you clearly are referring to Kevin. Third, if people were turned off by Kevin James, one of the all-around funniest guys on TV, then they have problems.

Thanks for the corrections as I typed it quickly without rereading as I am at work.
But that still leaves the questions why the ads have been changed? Was there a reason for it.

I hope it's not bad news. They could be trying for all the audience they can get which indicates maybe Hitch isn't all it's cracked up to be, and may get bad WOM.

Every review I've read said the best chemistry in Hitch comes from Will Smith and Kevin James, not Smith and Eva Mendes.
So, obviously, they're trying to play it up.

Does marketing romance at the superbowl seem like a good idea?
No, No its not.
Superbowl ads are designed to pull in MEN.

Good point but why have they cut out Kevin James - the big fat guy - out of the commercials this week. I wonder if it is for Valentine Day but why didn't they keep one scene with Kevin James in the ads this week to remind people.
