Trapped in the Thread Archive!
I always seem to have plenty of suggestions about the "Everyone's A Critic" forum's
Thread Archive, and surprise! ...I've got yet another:
The new format, while having fantastic sortability, is brutally slow and awkward to use.
Instead of one slow loading page with
all the movie titles which could then be scrolled or Alt-F searched, we get seven slow loading pages, which each one having to be scrolled down to see if it goes far enough, and if not - - scroll back to the top and reload yet another slow page. Aiiiieeee!!!
After finally having great one-click links placed strategically around the forum for superb access, we now one-click our way into a big sticky pot of programming molasses.
I realize, this is the price of the amazing reconfigurations the user can do on the database, but it has turned the more common job of just quickly navigating to a specific review thread (without having to resort to KJ's dodgy hit & miss search function), into a tedious slog.
My suggestion on a workaround for this, is to have both front ends available on the database if possible. This new one is very enjoyable to sort and resort in various ways, but the old way got the primary function done right. If we could choose from both of these options, that would truly be the best of both worlds. But if I had to choose just one - - I'd take the old system back in a heartbeat!
