What about The Last Station? It's a Tolstoy biopic.

No release date yet, but the cast is Paul Giamatti, Helen Mirren, James McAvoy, and Christopher Plummer.

Ben-Hur.

Marty was a remake of a TV movie.

Ben-Hur and Mutiny on the Bounty. One could argue My Fair Lady and West Side Story.

Well, Mutiny on the Bounty is as much a remake as Titanic was I suppose.

Ben Hur applies, though.

If the question was about Nine, I'm not sure if it'll be viewed as a remake of 8 1/2 so much as an adaptation of the stage musicial.

I would be willing to bet $1000 that Nine and The Human Factor are in.

I think The Informant and State of Play are ocuppying the same space, though The Informant has the better release date of the two.

Shutter Island and The Lovely Bones are hit or miss IMO.

As mentioned, Public Enemies needs to make muchos dollars during the summer to be a player.

And Avatar well, it'll either be the game changer all the major players who have visited the set say it is and it will overtake the masses. Or not.

Um, yeah, IF IT'S GOOD. If Marshall really drops the ball and it's terrible, all the fancy predigree in the world isn't gonna get it in there.

Ask Cold Mountain.

Nine's new release date is fraught with peril. Big Budget musical in September? Gonna have to be a hit on all sides of the ball.

So the information in the Nine thread that I just skimmed over is wrong. Good to know. Sept. seemed like a terrible idea.

doesn't sound like a major OC, but maybe Damon could pick up a nomination, or at least get a Globe win or something (no wait, DDL is competing against him in Nine)

Yeah, I would move it out the possible BP contender list.

I had moved Damon out my 5 for Best Actor but that was before I read the review.

Best Actor
Leonardo DiCaprio, Shutter Island
Morgan Freeman, The Human Factor
Daniel Day Lewis, Nine
Brad Pitt, Tree of Life
Algenis Perez Soto, Sugar

Watch out for State Of Play--could be the next great social satire.
