I'm excited, for sure! It's taking up a lot more time than I expected it to, but it's just a once a year thing, and I'd rather go all out than do it half assed.
My opening monologue is mostly written, so I hope you all like it. I've also written introductions for 2 of the presenters so far, and those are what I'm really enjoying most actually. They aren't long, just fun to do. (they're short)
I'm hoping to get all of the intros done, and tweak the opening monologue, as well as write my speech about Directors, before the noms are announced. I won't have much to do except counting and commentary on the directing noms in my speech after that. Right now, it's a little overwhelming, but it wouldn't be as fun if it wasn't. \:D/

I just realized that there was a best soundtrack catagory.

Dunno. But I didn't really stumble upon it until tonight... nobody sends me PMs often. I didn't make the connection initially between this and dolcevita's mail
(I sent ballot to one of you? I think dolce tonight).

O great, as you picked the Best Picture category, does that mean you are going to thrill us with more talk about the politics of the Oscars rather than the best picture movies that were nominated, which you haven't seen the above ones.
O joy! Can't wait.

I'm saying it one time...SHUT THE HELL UP! Do NOT start bringing down the atmosphere of our awards with negativity. If you want to particpate, you are more than welcome, but keep the bullshit out of this thread or these awards. Grow up a little, huh? :???:

andaroo, thanks for participating! Could you pm your ballot to either Maverikk, matatonio, or me? We're the three that are counting the ballots. Or I can ask dolce to forward it.

She'll probably forward it as soon as she sees it. Pinkpanther originally sent it to her, and she saw to it that it got to our hands. I'm writing her intro next. Just got done with Lecter's. :Jump:

Sorry but more than in his analysis, where you said his review could be supported by Oscar politics, I KNOW that this speech should be peppered with his thoughts on the movie. Have you ever seen the scenes where the people introduce the movies, I never seen them saw, well I have never seen the movie or this is what I heard about the movie.
It is probably, the biggest award picked in the Oscars.
And just to show you that I have a point and am just not starting trouble - a smarter idea would have been to give Lecter something dealing with the foreign category which he probably has a better chance to see and give more INTERESTING PERSONAL comments.
Rather than just telling me to shut up, I would like you to justify him giving a speech for the Best Picture where he hasn't seen more than half of the movies or what I suggested - rather giving him something within the foreign movies category where he can add something to his speech?

You are singling him out, because there are other awards that will have actors, actresses, directors, editors, etc...in movies that none of us has seen, but you're not bothering to mention that, just him, starting in with your usual comments.
Are you telling me that when I stuck up for you, that I shouldn't have?
If you want to show us all how to do a presentation, then throw your name in the ring, and take one of the categories that's left. If you don't want to do that, then don't worry about the way Lecter does his presentation. Lecter is in no different of a position than others, although you don't even pay attention where the others are concerned, because you are way too focused on spending your life thinking about what he's doing. Let it go.
The only justification that he needs for presenting Best Picture, is that he called it first, and I have confidence that he'll do just fine with it. If anybody else has a problem with Lecter doing Best Picture (besides Goldie), speak now, or forever hold your peace.
Don't hold your breath waiting for anybody else to have a problem with it, Goldie. :???:

Lecter and I have the biggest (civil!) arguments on the board.
And I still count him as a great guy.
If anybody should have a problem with him, it is me.
I have no problem with Lecter presenting anything, like any of us, when we are put in a position of presenting an category that other people have voted on (not an opinion) he will do it with respect for the pieces nominated.

Some of the races are so tight that one vote can move one nominee up more than a couple of positions.

The categories for the awards are as follows, with the names in bold of the member who will be presenting the specific award...(plenty of spots available to be presented, so get 'em while they're hot)
Best Picture
------
Sorry Mav, FYI, the only reason that I mentioned Best Picture was that it was the first one listed and the Lecter does the first post saying that he isn't seeing the movies till later.
Like I said, I would have suggested Lecter to do something in the foreign vein - though I don't blame you for not making that better connection.
But I do think it was the normal Lecter to go for the big thing - best picture when he probably won't even see the winner - then something where he could bring more insight into his speech with foreign.
But anyway, that is the Lecter than I expect and know.

Goldie, first of all, I think you're full of shit. Second, now that you know that we don't want your petty bullshit comments dragging down the atmosphere of this thread and the awards , stop making them. Lecter doesn't have to see any of the movies, to be able to write a presentation for them. I wouldn't have to see one of the movies ever directed by any of the nominated directors, and I'd still be able to write a presentation about them. I wasn't even alive when Abe Lincoln was President, but I was still able to do a book report on him while in school, and got an A.
Good, now that we've cleared that up, you won't have to make anymore negative comments about Lecter ever again, here, or anywhere.
