Re: Catherine Hardwicke fired from New Moon?! I enjoyed Cursed myself. I thought it was pretty entertaining. And it's not like you need someone great to direct Twilight. The source material itself isn't great, and Williamson gets teen angst (Dawson's Creek).

However, that was bound to happen because of the potential that the franchise could have been said to have owned. So, in a sense getting the wrong people to work on it can cause a franchise to lose tens or hundreds of million over several films as it drops and doesn't reach its optimal level. I thought 13 was great. I'm not sure what you mean by hack.

Re: Catherine Hardwicke fired from New Moon?! I'm not sure if it's the right move or not. The movie did well mostly because of the opening. Although the late legs probably do say something about WOM. I have not seen it and have no idea of who it's owed to.
Weitz is an interesting choice. Didn't he do TGC? I'm not certain about him with this type of film. But then TGC had many problems.
