In terms of cultural impact, and ability to be remembered, LOTR will never have the same resonance Star Wars had. But quality-wise, sure I think they are better movies.

TESB had that excellent sense of desperation from our heroes and if memory serves correctly, was the 1st movie to usher in the phrase "Cliffhanger" the way it ended.. It was a wonderful time not to have had the internet back then to spoil it for the next movie.. Had EMPIRE been released today, the internet and SPOILERS would've tarnished the surprise element..

Most films fall by the wayside for a few years anyway. Come back in ten years and say LOTR is forgotten and we'll see.

Despite it being my favorite movie, I have to disagree. The Dark Knight is not a superhero movie. For it to be a superhero movie it would have to uh, have a super-hero in it. And a superhero, is super because he / she has superpowers. But if u consider Batman a superhero then by that logic James Bond is a superhero too.

James Bond does not dress like a bat, your logic is flawed.

Post Re: The Dark Knight
Alright so I've seen it twice now and I'd like some clarification on some things:
They're mostly small and don't really detract from the movie but answers are always good.
1) The bank heist, the manager of the bank killed one of the clowns, the Joker never would've thought of that happening and it could have been him being shot. So just coincidence? That's a bad cop-out, any explanation?
2) After the hospital blast the Joker gets into a bus which is conveniently waiting for him? Wouldn't they have drove off?
3) Harvey Dent when he assaulted Ramirez was wearing a half burnt coat? Why the hell would he still have his burnt coat?
4) Dent killed 5 people, 2 cops? Didn't he kill 3? 2 at the hospital and Wuertz.
5) Did the CNN reporter get killed by the Joker? Mike Engel
6) Chenchen the Russian dude says that his men won't work for the Joker but they drag him away, what did he even offer them? All of them are money minded it doesn't make sense.
7) The pencil trick, no one cares that the Joker just murdered one of their men? This was before he showed his bombs in his jacket, at the beginning.
8) The fingerprint Wayne found on the bullet, why did he carry out the experiment again? Shooting four bricks, what was that for? So that he could go to the apartment to find the soldiers caught? How is that related?
9) Harvey Dent did not shoot the Joker. But why did he decide to flip the coin? I mean, the Joker had not convinced him yet, I assumed the first time around that the Joker convinced Dent off-screen but that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't think he'd be that fair, not really believable.
10) The criminal who threw the detonator off the ship was pretty confident that he could fling it out the window, but we actually heard the detonator hit the sill first, I mean, the damn ship could've blown up because of that, they should have edited that for a smooth throw.

I would normally ask on imdb but their boards are run over with fans and retards now it seems so yeah. Please answer even if they're kind of trivial but significant at the same time.
Oh and Maggie G was pretty crappy second time round too.
And Gordon's son has to be the worst actor ever. He's on the verge of death and suddenly his voice is so clear and innocent "Batman" oh give me a break that's pathetic acting. Bloody child.
Still an A and best of the year though.

So far imo nothing this year has come close and even the Indie films have not.

It should at least be nominated for BP.

There is no omg!! films like "No country for Old men" this year, so Things are looking Good.

I am getting the DVD next week (exam's coming) and I will get Blue Ray!!!

Ummm, I seem to recall that Joker killed him not the manager. The manager shot the window glass.

Quote:
2) After the hospital blast the Joker gets into a bus which is conveniently waiting for him? Wouldn't they have drove off?

It was prepared for him. It was a part of his plan. People in the bus included Joker's crews (along with doctors, nurses and patients). They're all criminals who, later, play game 'bad guy and the doctor', the climax scene remember?

Quote:
3) Harvey Dent when he assaulted Ramirez was wearing a half burnt coat? Why the hell would he still have his burnt coat?

gimmick?

Quote:
4) Dent killed 5 people, 2 cops? Didn't he kill 3? 2 at the hospital and Wuertz.

You heard it wrong. Gordon said, 5 people dead and 2 of them were cops..

Quote:
5) Did the CNN reporter get killed by the Joker? Mike Engel

Yes.

Quote:
6) Chenchen the Russian dude says that his men won't work for the Joker but they drag him away, what did he even offer them? All of them are money minded it doesn't make sense.

Maybe those who dragged the Russian dude away were Joker's men.

Quote:
7) The pencil trick, no one cares that the Joker just murdered one of their men? This was before he showed his bombs in his jacket, at the beginning.

That dude is just nobody, I guess.

Quote:
8) The fingerprint Wayne found on the bullet, why did he carry out the experiment again? Shooting four bricks, what was that for? So that he could go to the apartment to find the soldiers caught? How is that related?

I'm not sure how is all this related. Let hear from the others.

Harvey is convinced at least 80%. So, in his POV, Joker still takes half-responsibility. That's why he let the coin decides Joker's fate.

10) The criminal who threw the detonator off the ship was pretty confident that he could fling it out the window, but we actually heard the detonator hit the sill first, I mean, the damn ship could've blown up because of that, they should have edited that for a smooth throw.

I also noticed that. But it wasn't such a big deal, really.

About number 7, umm, he just killed a guy with a pencil... would u stand up and do somethin' about it?

And number 1, he of course didn't intend on it, but it just all worked out. He would have had everyone all killed off anyway.

And last number 10. I remember u having to pull a key out of the detonator. There wasn't a button u pushed. So by him throwing it the key wouldn't have fallen out.

Watched it again on Sunday night and lowered my rating a notch to a 9/10 (A). It's still a great film, but there are too many flaws for it to deserve a perfect rating.

2 - The Joker's goons are holding the bus hostage. That's why it waits for him.

8 - Bruce is trying to find the exact damage block so that he can recreate the 3D fingerprint.
