 Dolls
Dolls Quote: Dolls (ドールズ Dōruzu) is a 2002 Japanese film written, edited and directed by Japanese director Takeshi Kitano. A highly stylized art film, Dolls is part of Kitano's non-crime films as A Scene at the Sea, and unlike most of his other films, he does not act in it. The film has been praised for its cinematography (Katsumi Yanagishima) and features costumes by Yohji Yamamoto.

 Re: Dolls
Meh.
I don't really mind abstractness in film, but I do when it's got no real purpose to it. Like all of Kitano's films, it's supremely abstract, but it doesn't really link back to anything in particular, much moreso than his previous works. It's just abstract for the sake of being abstract.
It's not just that I didn't get it; I think it's fundamentally flawed, and for that, I couldn't just enjoy it for what it was. It simply didn't work, on any level.
I guess I'm just not a fan of Kitano. At all.
