Dark Knight sequel begins filming in February, 2010 release?
http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=10287&count=0Quote: "Batman Begins" was released back in 2005 and "The Dark Knight" was released in 2008. That's a three year gap between the two movies. Does that mean that the third installment in the franchise will be in theaters in 2011?
Not quite. According to Batman-on-Film, we could get the new movie a year earlier, in 2010. The site, citing their sources as being the behind-the-scenes crew on "The Dark Knight," the third installment could go into pre-production as early as February 2009 and then be ready to start shooting during the summer of 2009.
"What's interesting is that info seems to be originating from folks who worked on 'TDK' behind the scenes -- set builders, stuntmen, film crew, etc. -- in Chicago," Batman-on-Film said. "[What I'm hearing from crew members out of Chicago] is that 'BATMAN 3' goes into pre-production in February to shoot next summer."
At this point, director Christopher Nolan is said to be "on vacation" and has yet to sign a deal. I'll wait for Nolan to confirm.

Shorter time between films = easiest way to decrease from the previous film.

Nolan will probably tell them to chill the fuck out for a bit and wait a little longer than that

2010 is too soon, and 2011 is looking too crowded already (Summer anyway). Maybe they should aim for Nov 2011 (Hobbit in DEC shouldn't matter really, a full month apart should be fine) and if not Nov 2011, then Summer 2012. 4 years isn't THAT long of a wait.

I'd rather he gets to make a non-Batman film in between.

Yeah another Prestige quality film would be great.
Though second half of summer 2010 could do with a film like this, so too could Dec 2010. Or else they should skip 2011 and go to 2012

Re: Dark Knight sequel begins filming in February, 2010 release?
with TDK fantastic phenomenal success, WB can put the third installment anywhere on the summer, it should scared away other movie who tried to going head to head with Nolan's third "untitled" Batman. but 2010 is alittle bit too fast i was expecting to see it on 2011, so they can have time to focus, by not losing the quality they already had in TDK. other point is casting Batman movie is a little bit tricky, it takes time to cast who is in the project, i believe some of you already heard the unconfirmed rumors that Angelina Jolie will take part on the third installment to play Catwoman. i was hoping the rumor is true, 'cause Jolie had some oscar quality acting. but the final decision is still on Nolan's hand. we can only stay tuned to this channel.

I doubt WB wants to put in 2011 because of Potter although it could do it in TDK in July and DH in either the pre memorial day slot or push it to November.

Re: Dark Knight sequel begins filming in February, 2010 release?
Only problem with July 2011 is that The Avengers has hold of the month. Maybe if they move Avengers to the end of June (Transformers 2 slot) and TDK mid July it could work. I mean if Hancock can do $230m - Avengers should be good for $375m+
The TDK sequel wont make $500m - but $450m+ is just about a lock.

My only concern is - how will they market it if they have to wait until Captain America is released before they can disclose CA is in it? Unless they have teasers with the other three and wait for CA to come out before the main trailers are released.

Pretty much, the people who see Iron Man 2 will see Iron Man 3. I really don't see how it anyone who didn't see Iron Man 2 will want to see Avengers, nor do I see anyone who saw Iron Man 2 will NOT see Avengers.
Avengers is going to basically sell the same amount of tickets as Iron Man 2 but with the one year of ticket inflation. Since I think Iron Man 2 will do around 365m-385m, I think Avengers does 3% higher so it will do about 375m-400m.
Now, I think the Bat-sequel, if all goes well, is a lock for 450m and I see it getting around 475m-500m, so I think it has a clear advantage of Avengers. Yes same thoughts as me. TDK will be bigger but Avengers will still be big. They need a good 3-4 weeks between each other though.

They need probably a good two months difference, same as Iron Man and TDK had. They honestly should NOT be released in the same summer and I think it would be a bad move. But if they were to be released in the same summer, one would have to be released in May while the other in July. They need a good amount of seperation if they both want to reach their potential. You also have Potter to consider in this since it is scheduled for may of course they could put TDK in May and DH part 2 in November.

folks will be tired after of iron man after iron man 2. theyll see a 3rd in few years but not the summer after. hulk is not a popular hero on film. unless spiderman is in it, im is their their only claim to fame.
i still doubt avengers even gets made anyway.

The Avengers will make at least 300 million. I mean they are already setting up a prelude to that film in all of the Marvel films so theres going to be a 3 year anticipation for it. I just dont know if even making 300 million US and 800 million WW would be able to pay off the budget for the movie itself because of the costuming, FX and salaries involved. Imagine all the actor egos involved, it will be like Tropic Thunder

Although I wish they wait for 2012 for The Avengers. They should have a year in between Captain America and the Avengers.

The Avengers is pretty much a lock for $350 million, so whatever they wanna do with the next Batman film, I'd stillsuggect not to put it anywhere close to The Avengers. Both would just hurt each other badly.

i dont buy the avenger is actually going to happen, it is marvel overload.
marvel has called all these release dates way far in advance; the only one i see actually happening is iron man 2.

Some new stuff http://www.latinoreview.com/news/exclus ... pdate-5511looks like they want July 2011 for it. That makes things tough for the Avengers, although I still bet that gets pushed back anyway to 2012 or maybe a Christmas release. If WB has the last Harry Potter movie and Batman 3 in the same summer they could break a lot of records.

Honestly, I think this makes thing more tough for TDK sequel than it does for the AVENGERS since that's a fresh idea the audience hasn't seen yet, while the sequel to TDK has a very good chance at suffering the same fate as many 3rd movies in a series.. In short: It's really going to be difficult for Nolan to top TDK.. I don't think it gets any better than that, sort of like how SM2 was to SM3.. My only concern for the AVENGERS is how there gonna tie THOR into that movie.. That won't be any easy feat, especially if there not going to go with the Donald Blake storyline for THOR..

My point for the Avengers is it needs to be a year after Captain America. I can't see how they could do both in the same year.
