Post Re: The Dark Knight
I feel like an ass adding to this already too long thread. But, I thought it was a decent movie. I don't think I loved it like everyone else, but I found timing, acting, all that jazz, pretty good. I must of been the only one who felt like the new Batman series feel mildly like a gentlemen's club, and I haven't scrolled every page of this thread, so I might be mistaken. But, yeah, the biggest issue I had with this movie was the raw amount of testosterone. It makes me miss Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and even the Burton loveinterest. They all did more. This feels like the Isle of Men ever since Nolan took it over, however it became more obvious in this second addition to the catalogue.

Aside from that, I miss the lack of direct reference. I had less 'feel' for the space. I might have liked Ironman more. But, I still thoroughly enjoyed it, so for the most part I can't complain. The two ferries deciding who should off eachother was classic, and well done tension. In fact, the timing was this movie's strength. I felt tense throughout. B+/B.

I would have liked it if there were more long scenes, would have made the film more epic.

No you're not!!! I discussed this over dozens of pages in this stupid thread, trust me, it's infuriating how ignorant supporters of this film are.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how disgustingly patriarchal The Dark Knight is. No wonder straight boys like it. It's all they've got in an age that's passing them by. Stupids.

that being said, I thinks it's a stretch to say that TDK will get a Best Pic nod.

and I'm sure it won't win.

The reason why this film exploded because it had the perfect mix going for it. First of all its a great film. Its no Hitchcock but it is A material. Great acting, story and directing. This is a film that not only serves to entertain but to make you think. It was a film not based on the future, but a film that payed homage to many great classics. It channeled those films (Heat, Godfather, French Connection, Taxi Driver and others) and it gave you a blockbuster film that we are not use to at all. We were suprised and then we just went crazy and feel in love with the film. Easily almost everyone who say it under 25 says its one of the best films ever made. I say it is one of the best "Blockbuster" films made and that is nothing special considering we live in the time of Spiderman 3 and Shrek 3.

Time and time again film are greatly hyped to an extreme and really this and ROTK not only matched expectations but greatly surpassed them.

The question is this though?

LOTR is already being forgotten very quickly and ROTK does not really hold up well after a 3rd viewing.

Will TDK face this fate? I do not think so because TDK was seen by many more young people and thus it will become one of the best remembered films of this generation like Raiders was for another.

You're so BORING.

well its a Personal opinion and the film is slowly falling down the ranks on internet sites overall.

Hm. The thing is when you say "LOTR is being forgotten quickly", it's a general statement and not a personal opinion.

I agree that it will be hugely remembered. ;)
