Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (The Scorpion King, The Rundown, Walking Tall) says that he's unimpressed with the actors that studios have hired to play superheroes. Possibly courting the studios for a superhero role for himself, The Rock says in an interview with Playboy. "Men find an action hero believable if they say, 'Wow, I believe this guy can really kick some [bleeping] ass, mine included.' ... I loved Spider-Man, but I'm not too sure Tobey Maguire could kick a lot of people's asses."

Well, Maguire sure kicked your ass at the box office...so keep on bitchin', foo! [-X =;

Did you even read what he said? He didn't think Tobey Maguire could kick a lot of people's ass. Well, look at him! Of course he couldn't. Not that The Rock would be any better, but he's right. Tobey probably would need some Spider-Man moves of his own to take someone down.

last i checked, peter parker wasn't meant to kik a lot of ass. thats why he has "super powers". his "super powers" allow him to do things that otherwise wouldn't have been "possible"

That doesn't mean the guy can't look like he could kick a few asses if necessary. :wink: But, I'm not knocking Tobey, either, because I think he did a great job.

cause thats the character he plays. peter pasker is not meant to be big. hes a small nerdy shy kid.

batman is meant to be big .. cause if hes not, well ... he can't really do squat.

Batman isn't all that big. Tall, maybe... if that's what you mean. And he doesn't do much to start with.

What an idiot. Does he realize what Peter Parker looks like? That he was bitten by a radioactive spider, and THAT gave him his strength, not steroids like The Rock takes, which is obviously affecting his brain use.

(Incidentally, he'd be a good choice for the Submariner.)

In the meantime, The Rock can keep trying to live up to the standards that Jean Claude Van Damme set for him. Careful Rock, he raised the bar pretty high for you...

Well I was going to say this is the most long-term publicity stunt yet, you'll see. Two or three years from now who gets cast as a baddie against Spidey??? It'll be great. People will be frothing at the mouth by then.

Mind you I think the less muscular casting of the leads is due to the fact that these are guys that are supposed to have super-powers, not raw physical powers. Parker was supposed to be a "normal" kid that happened to get bit. Batman is quite normal, and relies on a lot oftechnology and brains. If their external physique was too recognizeable they would be easily discernable in costume or day wear. The only ones that gets away with externalizing characters' internal natures so directly are usually arthouse flicks.

If kicking ass is really the be-all and end-all of life, then theoretically The Rock would have no reason to show such bitter jealousy. Yet, The Rock shows bitter jealousy. Maybe, kicking ass isn't really the be-all and end-all of life?

First of all, without even reading anyones reply to this goofs complaint, I have to say that The ROCK has no future in movies whatsoever and should stick to acting in the Medium he does BEST: The Wrestling Ring and stop embarrassing himself from a guy like Mcguire who can act circles around him.. Nuff said.. Who the fuck would take this wrestler seriously?? The Rundown =

Well I guess The ROCK expected SPIDERMAN numbers with this at the box office enough for him to get his panties or wrestling trunks in a wad and go off on Toby Mcguire for nothing..

Look at the bright side, if the Rock did fight Spiderman aka Tobey Maguire, they might be able to make SM3 and SM4 at the same time, since The Rock will probably break him in two :wink:
