ok, I admit, I got teary eyed. James Marsden is probably the cutest guy alive right now. And for the first time EVER, I didn't hate Katherine Heigl. B+

Let me just state my utter shock of giving this a grade higher than Libs did. But...I am. It was delightful, funny and charming even if it was highly predictable and cliche. Katherine Heigl and James Marsden shined in this. I will never be able to sing the correct words to "Bernie and the Jets" again. A-

 Re: 27 Dresses
About as cliched, by the books as you can get. This is like Jennifer Anistons, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon's first romcom's, very standard, probably has the same lines, but it did work. I didn't want to like this but I was charmed. I didn't love it, it was overly cliched even for me but Heigl, while she can't seem to shut her own mouth is very charming and likeable. She is the next Roberts, she isn't overly beautiful to threaten women, and relateable enough for them to love her. James Marseden is the star, after always being "the other guy" this time he is "the guy" and takes that role with pride. Good for him, he deserves sucess. The rest of the cast is fine if outplaced of their roles, I wanted a better "drunk best friend". Had some very funny moments, and very nice standard romcom musts. B. Doable and nice for the beginning of the year. The audience loved it. At the scene were Jane snaps on her sister, FINALLY in the bride boutique, the women in the audience applauded and the guy behind me said "Man there must be some angry women here tonight"

B-b-b-bennie and the JETS! Seriously, that was a fantastic scene amongst some of the recent romcom's.. nothing beats the lying in the tent scene in The Holiday though.

Since I am amazing and got all the work I needed to do done early (considering today was a teacher workday), my girlfriend and I saw 27 Dresses again.
Still love it.

After having been very much positively surprised (well as far as that is possible in a certain range) by a clichéd, generic romance P.S.:I Love You, I had somewhat higher hopes for this one, hoping such a surprise would re-occur. No such luck...
27 Dresses really is as generic and clichéd as possible. Then again, it is really hard nowadays to add something hugely original or new to the genre, so that's not quite the complaint. I have liekd clichéd romcoms in the past (Just Like Heaven), but they usually should have something else going in their favor, like good comedy or irresistible chemistry between the leads. None of that can be found in 27 Dresses. The women are the saviours of the film as Katherine Heigl does a pretty good job as the leading lady. She's charming and, in certain scenes, downright enchanting. I think she's got a lot of potential as far as being a major romcom star of the future goes. Judy Greer really should have had more screentime because most of the movie's laughs were due to her. She was a lot of fun in pretty much every single of her scenes. Malin Akerman once again shows promise by appearing in a mediocre film with a good performance.
The actors didn't fare as well. Edward Burns was incredibly bland, no clue why Heigl was so head over heels in love with him and Marsden who was surprisingly delightful in Enchanted and Hairspray last year didn't stun me either. The worst of all, however, was the fact that Heigl and Marsden simply had no chemistry together which is usually a deathspell to a romcom's quality. As said above, all the praise for making this film still somewhat likeable should go to the three females of the cast.
Not much else can be said about any other aspect of the film as all of them are just as generic and casual as you'd expect in a film like this. Oh and kudos to the costume designer for creating some truly hideous outfots here, heh.

Straight chick flick, while I do like chick flicks, there was nothing else to offer, but as a chick flick it was good

Sorry for saying this but FUCK OFF. I don't see people going insane and being committed to a mental institution in the final act in most romcoms. JLH is nothing like a cliche. Lecter I really dislike your taste in romcoms (ironic, considering we both gave 27 Dresses a C basically). I just don't know how anybody could find sitting thru PS I love You an enjoyable experience. (I liked Lisa Kudrow though)

As with all genre pictures, I think there's a definite benefit from playing on some tried and true genre clichés, just as a musician combines notes to play chords...

27 DRESSES - 7/10 ( B )
A cute, charming romantic comedy. James Marsden was yummy in it. It's not The Devil Wears Prada, but I didn't expect it would be.

I kinda enjoyed it till Heigl ruined the wedding of her sister which I totally hated. Who does something like this? Maybe I'm just putting too much thought in there but after that I just waited for the film to end. D-

Heigl's the whore here. Agree, Heigl's character was such a bitch there. BUT that didn't make me hate the film (like it did to you), though. In fact, I kind of liked this turn of Heigl's character. Her action wasn't out of blue or anything. She thought it was the right thing to do, she thought she has been on the unfair side for her whole life and it's time to get even. But boy, she was wrong, as proved by her best friend in the followed scene.
