LeAnn Womack--this year's "Van Lear Rose"
I looved "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" the very first time I heard it, but the more I hear about the album, the better it sounds--another modern masterpiece like last year's Van Lear Rose?
Anyone else looking forward to the album? Chris? lol
Liste to "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" here:
Morning
Ain't it just like one of us to pick up the phone and call after a couple of drinks, And say: "How you been? I been wonderin' that maybe you've been thinkin' 'bout me." And somewhere in the conversation, an old familiar invitation always arrives, An' I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight.
Everyone's known someone that they just can't help but want; And even though we just can't make it work out, well the want-to lingers on. So once again we wind up in each other's arms, pretending that it's right, An' I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight.
I know it's wrong, but it ain't easy moving on. So why can't two friends remember the good times once again?
Tomorrow when I wake up, I'll be feeling a little guilty, an' a little sad, Thinkin' how it used to be before everything went bad. An' I guess that's what it is, in lonely late night calls like this, that we try to find; An' I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight.
I may hate myself in the morning, but I'm gonna love you tonight

Not my cup of tea, but its a beautiful song. I especially like the lyrics. I really liked Loretta's Lynn "Van Lear Rose".

I love Lee Ann Womack....great voice and performer. I'm looking forward to this. The song has a 70's country sound to it, like something Lynn Anderson might do.

late 60's early 70s was the best time for country music
Here are some erly reviews :
Jane Magazine (4 Stars): "You have to love a country CD that opens in a motel room and ends with a psalm. In between, it'll just make you bawl. Even at work."
Billboard: Hallelujah. One of country music's great singers is singing country again—bona fide lovin', cryin' and cheatin' songs. From the "classic" MCA label logo to Byron Gallimore's production to the CD cover, Lee Ann Womack's latest has a retro feel. Teamed with her classic country sound, that's a very good thing. The title cut, with its weeping fiddle and soaring performance from Womack, is an instant entry into the country lexicon, as is leadoff single "I May Hate Myself in the Morning." Womack evokes George Jones on the killer "One's a Couple" and tender, world-weary "Twenty Years and Two Husbands Ago." Other gems include the insistent midtempo "He Oughta Know That by Now" and the more contemporary "When You Get to Me." The album's closer, "Stubborn (Psalm 151)" is an introspective titan penned by Don Schlitz and Brett James. Consider this an early contender for best country album of the year.

Im lsitening to it right now (actually, no im not but i was just a few minutes ago  ) Pretty good so far.
Entertainment weekly's Review:
Going for a distinctly retro vibe, Lee Ann Womack's latest, There's More Where That Came From, splits the difference between Dusty in Memphis and Dolly in Nashville. It's a patient album, content to float the singer's soprano over pretty melodies that billow like curtains in the breeze. The music serves the lyrics, which dwell on loving, leaving, and aging. More isn't especially cute, nor is it fancy. But it feels the way old country feels. That is, real.

I May Hate Myself In The Morning is a good song. Not her best, but it's okay. I've heard nothing but good things about the CD, though. If I liked a few other songs I'll get it.
