Post Boogeyman Thread
I'm pretty sure there's not a thread on this yet, so I'll make one. I think this will follow along the lines of the recent horror movies. It's just earned the PG-13 rating, so that's a big plus for the opening weekend. I think it'll do really good.

Opening: $21 million, Total: $56.7 million

I hate to nitpick, but I am a teacher. You should say "I think it'll do really well."

I think:

OPENING: $20M
TOTAL: $53M

Yeah, I think this will do really good, too, Libs.

Seriously, though, the marketing for this is great. The trailers/tv spots are positively horrifying. It's PG-13, right?

Opening: $22.0

Total: $59.0

Now is this a remake of the 80's horror film of the same name "The Boogeyman"??? :-k If so, I say your prediction is about right, especially for February.. I'm really waiting for The Amityville Horror in April though... That looks very good... =D>

No, it's an original film.

I know which 80's horror film you're talking about, though. It's pretty good.

I think it will do well. However, they better hope that people don't remember the trailer placed in front of The Grudge; there was laughing at the showing I was in. The recent marketing has been a dramatic reversal from that, though, as the TV spots currently running are very effective.

Am I the only one who doesn't see it performing much better than Darkness Falls?

I think it will do better only because of a slightly better release date. However it looks bad, and I'm sure the reviews will agree (I predict less than 15% positive). That being said:

Opening Weekend: $16 million
Second Weekend: $6.8 million (-60%)
Domestic Total: $38 million

Looks awesome, this and CURSED look like the best movies of FEBUARY, and i think they will be 2 of the biggest.

Over $45M total gross.

It will do so good, that all the other movies that did good this year will pale in comparison to how good this movie does.

Man CURSED is getting torn up in the early reviews of this film, moreso to do with it being PG-13 vs R Rated which I guess has become quite an issue nowadays with teens huh??? :-k Is it really that big a deal that horror movies be R Rated VS PG-13 cause I think if back then in the 70's and 80's if there had PG-13 They probably would've used it more??? I think 1984 was the 1st time to usher in that rating with Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.. Either way, I predict for BOOGEYMAN:

3 Day total: 30 Million

Overall total: 65-70 Million..

Sunday: $3.5 million (-61%)

Weekend Total: $21.5 million
Total Gross: $55.9 million

I don't get it either and I still maintain that it's more of a feeling of feeling grownup watching an R Rated movie while a PG-13 movie makes teens feel pandered down to like Kids.. More of a psychological thing than it's worth... Now BOOGEYMAN is PG-13.. Do the trailers make this look scary for a PG-13 Film??? :-k

Yes the trailers make it look pretty scary - Hopefully, the best parts aren't in the trailers and the movie will turn out to be a joke.

After White Noise, Hide and Seek and Alone in the Dark, I think people might be horrored out. Besides, it opens on Super Bowl weekend, which will KILL it's Sunday B.O.

Opening: 16.6
Total: 41.0

Current predictions:

Opening weekend - $16.5 million

Total gross - $43 million

I think the audiences might get tired from the wave of horror flicks. Besides that it'll be hurt by the Superbowl and will face direct competition from the higher-profile film, Hide and Seek.

I'm sticking with my prediction. I still think that with a PG-13 rating, this will make $20 million atleast.

It's going to do okay, but the fact that it has no big stars isn't going to help it.

I really hope that turns out good, now thats a movie that should be remade, especially since the original sucked and had ALOT of potential to be better.
