Sweet Jesus. I honestly expected about $19-20m but it looks like it's not just the opening weekend that's completely absurd, but the entire run. It could outgross Batman Begins in just five days. Absolutely phenomenal. it did it in Australia.

Re: Monday Numbers (Jul 21, 2008)
$24m,$24m!!!! OMG!!!
I was working on my Batman projection thread last night and I had it at $508m as a minimimum (10% chance it won't get there), conservative tracking $554m (1/3 chance it won't get there) and it reminded me too much of my Spiderman 2 tracking which was way too optimistic. After reading it, it just seemed ridiculous. I mean it could have made $19-17m Monday for all I knew. So, I shelved it.
With this number $77m seems like the realistic min for 2nd weekend and as high as low $100m, seems in play. Anything under a 35% drop seems just too unrealistic. How many times have I typed some form of the last sentence in the past 6 days?
Think about this though, and I realize it has only been 4 days. Throw out Friday, because Midnight shows weren't promoted and attended in the late 1980's like they are now. TDK dropped 48.4% Mon/Sat., Batman dropped 50.4% Mon/Sat. Batman made 4 times more its first 4 days total, or had a multiplier of 5. TDK has actually dropped better over the past two days. If, it has a multiplier of 3.5, its at $640m.

Huge for THE DARK KNIGHT
Also strong for MAMMA MIA! that monday drop is better than SEX AND THE CITY by over 7%, its' worse than HAIRSPRAY'S drop by about 11% but HAIRSPRAY really didnt have the same heavy movie goign weekend, MAMMA MIA looks for a similar or better drop this weekend.

I can see why it is a such a hit.
It is rare film that not only critics love but audiences love and most importantly find entertaining.

I need that clip from the Pineapple Express trailer where the guy goes "This is so exciting!". That's only one statement to express this wonderful performance.

Re: Monday Numbers (Jul 21, 2008)
I'm trying to see how much TDK could earn from its second weekend on. Considering The Bourne Supremacy, which was released in late July, had a 3.36 overall multiplier with 54%, 40.5%, 40.2% being its drops for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weekends, TDK shouldn't have trouble to have a better multiplier if we treat this upcoming week as the starting point since the respective weekends for it will be its 3rd, 4th, and 5th. So,
if TDK gets $75m, the additional total after the first week should be at least 255m; $80m would translate to $272m; $85m, $289m. Then when we add the first week total of around $240m back in, it would be $495m, $512m, and $529m. And that's basically the minimum, so I'd say the chance of it getting $500m is already at 80% after Monday's number.

Re: Monday Numbers (Jul 21, 2008)
Watch now it drops like $7m today I just can't believe $500m is a real and likely gross. I'm kind of speechless. I keep coming back to the Box Office forum and this thread because I'm just so amazed I want to talk about it even though there isn't anything new to talk about until tomorrow. I do think it might drop a little harder than we expect on Tuesday. I hold no expectations now until actual numbers come in. I'm REALLY anxious to see how it does this Friday.

Well JMorphin's theatre dropped 12% Tuesday so I think a 10% drop is in play and so to is Munk-E's $22m Tuesday
