COME ON!!! TDK is going to pass WALL-E. I've made peace with it because TDK is an incredible film. Only because more people will see it

 Re: WALL-E
I agree with most of what Box said. I loved the first half, between the stuff on earth, and then the original scenes in the ship, from Wall-E's entrance on the assembly line to the introduction of the captain to the dancing scene, which is the best in the film... and even the random two humans who end up holding hands are done well. But almost immediately after "define dancing", when the Captain makes that speech and then when Auto goes Hal-3000 and the movie rolls out a standard run from the bad guys climax, the magic was lost on me. It really feels like Pixar is trying to have their cake and eat it too, the difference between the beautiful scenes of just Wall-E and Eve complimented music instead of dialogue, and the plotline involving the Captain overthrowing Auto, is staggering. Simply put, using Pixar as a comparison, the first one is Ratatouille and the second is Cars. And I dunno... aside from the dancing scene, I guess I just wasn't enough in love with the dialogue-less parts to really forgive the rest of the film. I think I wanted more of it, the first 30 minutes went by amazingly fast, and then the great Wall-E/Eve dynamic was more scattered throughout the rest.
The comparison of the visuals pretty much match the plot, too. The shots of earth and the attention to detail to every piece of garbage, and the dust, and the ground, it simply amazing. It feels real, it's by far the most impressive CGI work I've ever seen. But then the humans, their buildings, and the Axiom in general just feels totally cartoony and lazy in comparison, Pixar on autopilot. The Axiom world itself wasn't nearly as fleshed out as I wanted, just seeing the billboards and the pool didn't do enough for me.
Oddly enough, despite Wall-E's Earth scenes being more visually impressive, I thought as a whole Ratatouille broke a lot more borders for animation. I came out of that film so impressed at how they animated in the style of a live action film, and the tracking movements of Remy as he crawled along stuff was just incredible, along with the cooking, escape on the streets, etc.. And I liked how for the first time the human characters felt like real humans with real relationships with one another. Here, they did not, although that may have been the point.
It's an enjoyable, sweet Pixar film, but to be honest I feel it's more of a Tier 2 in their filmography, with Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, and A Bug's Life.
3.5/5

 Re: WALL-E
I think the film needed to develop the second half more, the whole movie felt too fast paced and it felt like there was so much more story to tell. I'm starting to already forget about the movie sadly. I still am firm on my "A" stance though because it does have quality, but it needed more, well I guess more for that masterpiece level four other Pixar films I give credit to. Sorry Munk.

 Re: WALL-E
You know what's funny? Everyone here is complaining about what happens AFTER leaving earth, whereas I think that part would've entertained kids much more than that slow opening. I think that the opening took a lot of people out of it, even though it is definitely the best part.
so Pixar simply didn't have a way past it; sacrifice quality for money? No sir!

 Re: WALL-E
Yes, the 2nd half was weaker.
But it's ONLY because the 2st half was so phenominal and we all wanted MORE of that. Despite the fact that some of the movies BEST parts were in the 2nd half.

They have to do that. They're a company that must remain profitable.

Easily (well, not really) the best Pixar film to date and the best film I've seen in the past couple of years. In fact, it's only the seventh film I've anointed an A+ to. Yeah, it's that good.
A+

A+ YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wall-E was terrific. It's also dead, and the pop culture wheel of relevance has moved on. I suggest you do the same. Don't waste your most vibrant, prosperous years of pestering and psuedo-trolling on this dead horse. I hear the "Up" picture is promising! I tell you this as a concerned onlooker.

 Re: WALL-E
Wall-E didn't have enough to entertain ordinary people. We should be celebrating what is basically an arthouse film grossing $200m.

 Re: WALL-E
I just watched the Incredbiles.
It has reminded me that we should not get caught up in the moment.
I thought Wall-E was one of pixars best, but after watching that and Ratatouille and Finding Nemo only 4 months ago, Wall-E is a great film but not pixar's best.
However any film that is great and from Pixar is an all time great film.

 Re: WALL-E
Manny...
You are an odd person.
You put too much into re-watchability and how you view a film later.
A film doesn't have to be re-watchable to be great.
And how one perceives a film when they first see it should ALWAYS be taken into account when grading it at a later date.
I don't think I know ANYONE that changes their grades for films more than you.
