The date and time of the show is up for discussion, but I need as much time as possible to clear my schedule for that date, so it has to be concrete once decided. Anybody presenting an award MUST send their presentation via PM to the host , no later than 3 days before showtime, to avoid things that happened in the past with people not showing up for unforeseen reasons, or to avoid anybody screwing the night up by forgetting to write anything that they had commited to doing.

I thought we were gonna do this in March, over here we are still waiting for films like Finding Neverland, Sideways, Million Dollar Baby and others to be released.

Also, it's fine if you boot me, but at least give Zingaling and matatonio some participation as I promised them, they'd be in it

Would you be into doing tech categories - like Cinematography, Art Direction, Editing?

You're not booted, you're still as involved as you want to be, and so are the others. You just ahev to speak up about what you guys would like to do.
These awards take time to get everything together, so it's best to get everything rolling now. Lots of writing, discusiing, and voting still has to have time alotted for.

If you and the others want them, sure. I just listed a starter list of categories, and left off stuff that I'd like to see as a category too, two of the three you mentioned.

Yeah, Arthur, we're all involved.
Here are the standard categories I like to include, in addition to what Mav listed:
Best Ensemble
Best Cinematography
Best Art Direction
Best Costume Design
Best Visual Effect
Best Makeup
Best Breakthrough Performance
Best Foreign Language Film
Best Animated Feature (3 nominees)
Best Comedy
Best Sequal
I think for some of the tech categories and breakthrough performances, we should have a list of finalists for people to vote from.

Frankly, I am glad you took it over, guys. I am getting busier from day to day (as my graduation comes closer) and around mid-February and March, I'll be extremely busy and barely on here. I wouldn't be able to do any stuff like counting the votes or something. Moreover, it's hard to imagine many guys who'd run the thing better than you, Michael and Mav I know you'll do it very well. Zing and matatonio might want to do counting, I think and for the speeches ask loyal, he writes great ones! If you need any help, though, you can tell me anytime

Are you only having straight Oscar type categories or are you having fun categories also.
- Female movie character that you would like to have a date with or Male movie character that you would like to have a date.
- What movie character would you like to switch places with for a day.
- Desert island or Vacation award - what movie characters would you like to spend on a desert island or a Hawaiian vacation.
- Hotest male or female actor or character.
Etc, you get the idea.

Goldie, those categories are a little too off, IMO. I don't want to turn this into a MTV or People Choice's Awards. It should be closer to Oscar categories, but with some variety as some of the critic groups have.
I think this is a good time to start the process because it will take a week to generate all the discussions and get categories finalized and two weeks of nomination ballot time. I like to get the nominations announced before Oscar ceremony since people are still paying attention to 2004 movies before then. You don't have to vote for all categories, if you don't think you've seen enough movies to write down nominees for a particular category. Also you can always vote for the winners even if you miss the nomination process.

OK, I was just bringing it up for discussion. I am fine with it whichever way it goes - purely Oscar or part Oscar / part MTV.

Thanks for bringing it up. I think we can have separate award shows to serve different purposes, if there are people who volunteer to run them. Like we can have our own Razzie. I just don't want to get them mixed up and see every film from good to medicore to bad all ends with similar number of nominations because there are so many different types of categories.

What about "Film Celebrity of the year"? That could be a director, producer, actor etc.
Can we modify Best Sequel to Best Sequel/Remake?
New categories I suggest:
Best Horror/Mystery Film (okay, I admit, I'm a horror nut, but if we have Comedy why not horror)
Most Underrated/Overseen Movie

Best Horror is fine with me. We probably want to limit the number of nominees for all these separate genre categories to 3, unless there are enough (good?) movies to have an argument for 5. I don't want to see another Shark Tale-type of film get nominated just because people can't think of any other qualified films to fill out their ballots.
On top of my head, I think Best Sequal/Remake probably deserves 5 nominees.

Yeah, limit the genre nominations to 3, not only because we don't want undeserving winners, but ALSO because the more people have to vote for and fill out ballots for, the less people want to vote (know that from the Poster Awards experience).

I like those categories. I'm not sure about the finalists, though. Wouldn't it be better if people chose their own instead of making them choose from a list?

I think, we'll probably just vote for the nominations and then, we'll vote for the winners in the second round of voting. Right?

This is what we normally do, right? Sounds good to me.
I think we should get started ASAP. We need to do this when people are still thinking about 2004 films, like someone above mentioned.
