Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Sellouts will increase at a very fast rate in next 4 days. Plus sellouts with walk ins. I am expecting most shows after 6PM will sellout.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
The real imax theatre here in detroit's midnight show is sold out. Friday 10pm sellout 7pm 120 tickets left 4pm 233 tickets left 1pm 288 tickets left 10am 352 tickets left.
From what I recall Spiderman 3 by this point had the entire weekend all shows sold out. This is well behind that.

I am hoping TDK beats SM3 midnight numbers. Around 10-12M would be stunning. Sith numbers look impossible.

The main reason why we sold out so late was because we put 4 midnight shows up for sale at the same time, so I wouldn't be suprised if another one or two of the midnight shows sell out later today. We are waiting for the bookings to be confirmed before putting up our 5th and 6th midnight shows. We've already sold a few dozen to the 1am show and a few to the 2 and 3am shows. Along with the special group showing at 7:00pm, it's going to be madness at my theater THU night Midnight show #2 has now sold out

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
all of the places with Imax are mostly sold out till Sunday.
There are only the Noon show left on Saturday..
The VIP theaters have begun to sell out shows on Friday and some on Saturday.
Some of the theaters are starting to sell out their midnight shows.
You see in Canada watching movies at Midnight is nowhere as popular as down in the States.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
This is the first time ever since ROTS that there has been 3am showings here.
Some theaters have sold out their regular midnight shows and are adding another one.
The Scotiabank in Toronto has 4 midnight shows and 2 are sold out and one is at 3am!! It has sold out all IMAX shows till SUNDAY! Plus there is a Sold out show for Friday without Imax and it is only Monday. The Colossus in Woodbridge has three midnights shows (2 are sold out)and all Friday IMAX shows and Saturday evening IMAX shows. The Collisuem in Mississauga has sold out both Midnight shows and all Friday IMAX shows and Saturday evening Imax Shows.
Two AMC theaters in my area have both added a 2nd Midnight show. One already has both sold out shows, The third has one sold out and will add another it seems.
Additionally these AMC theaters have sold out all shows after 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Quote: LOS ANGELES, July 14, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- MovieTickets.com ( http://www.movietickets.com ) is reporting that the highly anticipated film "The Dark Knight" is currently outselling three of MovieTickets.com's Top-10 Performing Films of All-Time at the same point in the sales cycle, including installments from such coveted franchises as "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Spider-Man" and "The Lord of the Rings." To date, "Dark Knight" has sold more than three times as many advance tickets as "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," more than twice as many as "Spider-Man 3" and almost twice as many as "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" at the same point in the sales cycle for each film.

This is fantastic. This will probably be the craziest midnight show I've ever been to. So excited.

The Mag-Pod wrote: 10m+ midnights here we come. The rest of the article reads as follows; Quote: MovieTickets.com's Top-10 Performing Films of All-Time
1. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith 2. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 4. The Passion of The Christ 5. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 6. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 7. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 8. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 9. Matrix Reloaded 10. Spider-Man 3
According to MovieTickets.com, "Dark Knight" has sold out over 150 performances in Los Angeles and New York alone. What's more, MovieTickets.com reports the caped crusader now boasts more than 1,300 midnight showings on its site. In a recent MovieTickets.com survey, moviegoers aware of the movie expressed intent to see the film during its opening weekend in all four age groups polled:
-- 24 & Under - 98 percent -- 25 to 34 - 92 percent -- 35 to 44 - 78 percent -- 45 to 59 - 66 percent
In addition, the survey found that 86 percent of males and 76 percent of females polled said they intend to see "Dark Knight" during its opening weekend. I find it interesting that HP4 did better than HP5. You would think other way around. The demographic breakdowns are strong. While it is clearly playing with younger people, its still doing really well with adults. And its female interest is pretty strong. Oh, and the article also indicates 450 showings sold out. Interesting to see Spidey 3 at #10 considering it has the record of biggest opening and made much more than the 9 films above it.

That article is poorly written, or maybe intentionally vague. I have no idea what records they are talking about.

Err, every Spidey film has outgrossed every HP,BM and Matrix film in the u.s, and worldwide it has outgrossed batman films by a huge margin.

Spidey's audience is more casual and less fanbase-driven than the franchises "above" it in the list.
