I'm just going to have to fork up the money and see it again! Thanks a lot, Wall-E!

Munk-E wrote: NO! The Old Yeller ending would have killed me. And ultimately, brought down my grade. Well then they should have gotten rid of that memory loss subplot. I know they were going for the whole tearjerk ending following by happiness, but it was far too obvious Wall-E was going to get his memory back. I know Disney would never let an Old Yeller ending fly, but maybe there's an alternate ending on the DVD.

That's a little too literal of the comparison I was trying to make.

Any other ending would've basically ruined it. It would make the hand holding and the spark meaningless, and both are pretty fkn crucial, I think.
Anyway, I saw it again today...I'll be surprised if this doesn't end up in my top 5 (if not #1) of the year.

 Re: WALL-E
Juts got back... Definitely lived up to my expectations and beat them. Pixar can do no wrong!
Charlie Chaplin in space! What more could a Chaplin SF fan like myself ask for?
I've read about the first 6 pages or so of this thread and basically agree that it is a wonderful film, and Pixar will probably once again be at the top of my Best Of list for this year too... I'd have to see it again to see if it tops The Incredibles (my favorite Pixar film)...
The complaints are minor... I thought the misfit robots could have been used to a better effect, and the change in the humans was a bit too sudden -- some of them should have been complaining about their cushy lifestyle being taken from them. And where were the teenagers? Nothing but kids and adults... Oh, and the plant in the refrigerator was too much.
What is it with refrigerators doing amazing things in films this summer? They raise plants with no water or sunlight; they survive nuclear blasts...
But there were so many good bits -- some very slight but wonderful -- that these minor complaints are, well, minor.

It wasn't in the fridge Groucho. Just thought I would point it out. The door was off of the fridge and laying next to it.

So my parents are going to see this film, and they never go to the movies, as in never.
Just keeping things moving along.
