To the guy who just posted: I forgot your name already so I'll just refer to you as Wall-e. You see Wall-e, there's a decent point in that condesending post of yours. Yes Wall-e, I agree, humans fin it fun and easy to go along with the crowd. Not many people are calling this the best movie ever, not even thebest Pixar movie ever. But most agree it's a damn good movie. Does this man any move over 90% on rottentomatoes is because all critics want to have one big circle jerk of agreement? It may not have before, but your signature comes into fair territory on this one: do you just like going against the crowd so you feel special? And don't mistake me for a Wall-e loony, Wall-e, because I saw the film again tonight and while Im a very big fan of it it is not without its flaws.

I've been to Psych 101, we have all heard the experiment, but have you ever heard of group polarization? Perhaps opposing the general opinion is just the same as conforming to it, so does I guess that makes you a conformist.

I guess it's damn near impossible that people might genuinely think for themselves every once in a while.

Like, seriously.

You know, I took Psych too, you're not impressing anyone by describing the Asch Conformity Experiment. You don't need to condescendingly lecture me on "conformity," Curtwhatever. Get over yourself.

Of course we encourage that. What we don't want is undermining what others genuinely think in a nasty, condescending way. As a result, friendly disagreements and debates get derailed and everything just goes down the tubes.

I'm thinking about watching it again today because the more I think about the more I really enjoyed the interaction between Eve and WAlle and especially the character of Eve itself. My only nagging issue with the film would be the design of the humans. That part visually speaking is almost too underwhelming to think about when they took all that time to create the look of the wasteland earth and space and the robots but then to include 1995 level human cartoon animation just doesn't cut it in that respect.

huh? I'm the one that was attacked by someone for not posting a glowing review of this so-called masterpiece. Of course my signature is controversial but wtf does that have to do with me not thinking this movie was one of Pixar's best. I'm sorry but I'm gonna call it like I see it, there's a lot of Pixar fan bois in this thread and Wall-E is far from a perfect movie. In my opinion, of course. lol.

you were attacked??

pleaseeee, grow up!

no one said anything except 'Your signature explains a lot'

which, if you haven't realized yet, nothing seriously, he was just joking..

and then, you came back with 'The Asch Conformity Experiment' sh!t.. assuming that most of people who voted A, because they saw the others did vote A..

who attacks whom exactly, SIS?

Curti5 is totally contradicting himself here. On one hand, he's promoting his right to bash Wall-E as he likes (A view I would support), but then he turns around and says it must be part of mob mentality that everyone else likes it. Aren't we allowed to say what we wish too. :grrr:

"assuming that most of people who voted A"

I never said that, I infered that potentially 32% of you, which would be a minority. Keep it on topic? How about this, I also found the environmental theme in this movie nauseating. The current global warming hysteria is based on junk science that hasn't been proved and 33,000 scientists agree.
http://mindlessandspineless.blogspot.co ... eniet.html

Yeah, humans cause a lot of damaging pollution but the whole global warming myth was propped up for an excuse for our puppet leaders to pass carbon tax legislature.

So I felt the labeled corny line, "I don't want to survive, I want to live" was actually good, and very truthful...just to get back on topic.

Post Re: WALL-E
So after finally watching the movie I can say that this is once again one of the finer movies of the year. A great love story, science fiction movie, and social commentary mixed into one 90 minute movie. The animation was gorgeous in space and on the spaceship and quite gritty in the scenes on Earth. I loved the gritty scenes the most because it seems like every animated film these days has perfect animation with bright colors. So it was a nice change of pace for me.

The love story was dealt with quite well, never becoming sappy or cheesy even when Eve finally saw what Wall-E did for her on Earth. The humor never felt forced and was downright hysterical at times.

The social commentary for me was one of the biggest strengths of the movie. In a country as obese and overrun by Wal Marts on every corner, it was great to see what our nation and world may one day turn to. Like the movie suggested, the president of Wal Mart or some other corporation may one day be more important than the President of this and every other country. It even had some very similar themes to the Matrix and Terminator in machines one day becoming too powerful. It obviously dealt with the theme in a much lighter way, but the ideas were still there even if the scenes were bright and colorful.

There were of course a couple of drawbacks to the movie. The beginning seemed a little too slow at times. Yes, the beginning did capture the state of the planet and the loneliness that Wall-E felt but regardless it felt a couple minutes too long. And the ending was a little too obvious for my taste. I was waiting for Wall-E to get his memory back right as Eve begins to leave. I think I would have declared this a masterpiece if they had decided to go the Old Yeller route. But as it stands it's an A/A- for me.

NO! The Old Yeller ending would have killed me. And ultimately, brought down my grade.

Gah, why can't I get this damn movie out of my head?? It seems like it has affected me a lot more than I realized.

I'm just going to have to fork up the money and see it again! Thanks a lot, Wall-E!

Peace,
Mike
