Bale replaces Cruise in 28th Amendment
"With today’s announcement that Tom Cruise has jumped ship (negotiations broke down with Cruise very late in the piece we’re told) from Warner’s “28th Amendment†and will instead star in the espionage thriller “Edwin A. Salt†(which “Amendment†director Phil Noyce is now helming, too), we thought we’d check in with our source on the former and see whether that film is still happening - now that Cruise has exited.
And indeed it is. Warner have put out an offer to Christian Bale to take Cruise’s place in the film. They are still pursuing Denzel Washington to play a special services operative, who attempts to assassinate the President.
The film is likely to shoot next year - largely due to the looming strike."http://www.moviehole.net/?p=13802_____________________________________________________________________________ Boy, Bale's career is really getting huge.

Awesome since Bale is at least 10X the actor Cruise is.
The two big Superhero films of the summer star two actors whose careers keep getting bigger and bigger.

ah, poor Cruise and his dying career.
His stupid off-screen antics are gonna make everyone forget the fact that, for a huge celebrity, he was a damn fine actor. Although he hasn't been as great in this decade as he was in earlier ones (his only great performance during the 2000s has been in Collateral), so I guess it's time for him to settle down.

So you think WB gave him the boot? The OP sounds like he was the one who called it off.

I'm praying that his Tropic Thunder cameo - supposedly better than even Downey Jr.'s performance - could save his mess of a career. but hearing that he called off the part is slightly better news.
