I do bet though that there are more great scenes in this that I'm not yet aware about so I'm not yet compLeteLy spoiLed, am I? Anyone? We've discussed this, you can't expect people who have seen the movie to not freely discuss it because you can't not read a damn thread till after you see the movie. This is a thread to discuss the film, if you don't want to be spoiled, read one of the other 100 threads on Wall-E, or just look at the poll.

I'm seeing Wall-E for the second time tomorrow afternoon. Bringing along some uninitiated to expose them to the greatest love story/comedy/animation spectacle/awesome character in a long time

 Re: WALL-E
The first 25 minutes or so are simply perfect.
If the rest isn't quite as good, it's not a big deal. Wall-E is still a terrific film. But I can't help but wish they'd dropped the sci-fi elements and just stuck to the City Lights flavor of the first act. As the second act devolves into well-made but typical animated comedy and action beats, I felt a profound sense of loss.
I'll never understand how the animators were able to make so clear what Wall-E and Eve were thinking with no dialogue and little in the way of facial expression. Magic, I guess.
And those end credits? WOW. If I were an art history student, I think I would have fainted.

 Re: WALL-E
With "Wall-E," Pixar has hit another grand slam. "Ratatouille" is a tough act to follow, but director Andrew Stanton and crew are certainly up to the challenge with the most ambitious (and perhaps best) studio offering to date. Over the course of its 103-minute running time, "Wall-E" never misses a beat. The biggest achievement is in the characters. Wall-E is the cutest thing to hit screens in ages, and the romance with Eve is adorable. It's amazing just how much characterization is communicated through the gestures and occasional dialogue-esque beeping noises they make. The imagery is incredible from the opening shots of an abandoned and lifeless Earth to the revelation of the new "society" in which humanity lives. As a whole, it's more thrilling, touching, and all-around breathtaking movie of the year so far. While it's far from the animation norms in terms of storytelling, it's also by far the most inventive and engrossing offering the medium has seen since Pixar last struck. As long as the viewer is able to connect with the story, it's nothing short of pure cinematic bliss. It's the best movie of the year to date, and sure to be remembered as one of its crowning achievements when it's all said and done.

Wholeheartedly agree. When Eve was flying over the earth, I thought myself: "I'm in heaven; this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." The lighting, the simple grim-looking color, its majesty, all are perfect. yoshue wrote: I'll never understand how the animators were able to make so clear what Wall-E and Eve were thinking with no dialogue and little in the way of facial expression. Yep. When Wall-E couldn't recognize Eve, I was like "oh no, don't give me a tragic ending; I can't handle this."

I wasn't originally planning on it, or even after I saw it, but I think I'll be catching the movie again this week. It's so romantic.

Neat observation with Starlight!
Strangely enough, I was just listening to the song.

 Re: WALL-E
Wow. An absolute stunner. WALL-E lives up to the hype. There are so many adjectives to describe the film, it seems hard to narrow it down to a few. Elegant. Poignant. Beautiful. Charming. Detailed. Emotional. No doubt about it, WALL-E and Eve are one of the great screen couples in cinematic history. Yes, two robots in an animated film who don't really speak to each other. This isn't quite my favorite Pixar film, but it's not too far away from the top (I'd rank only Toy Story 1&2 and Nemo ahead of this).
"Define dancing" was the best scene in a movie all year.

 Re: WALL-E
Saw it again. Was even better if possible the second time around. Liked the ending more although I was hoping for more Wall-E and Eve after Wall-E recognizes her again. The first time I saw it I too had tears coming down when he didn't recognize her. I was really glad Pixar didn't go with a tragic ending. That would have killed word-of-mouth and would have made me personally very upset.
