 Re: WALL-E
I find it kinda weird that my favorite scene came in space... When he got ejected from the pod and Eve and him "danced"... But everything on Earth was AMAZING. AMAZING.

That was the best individual scene in the movie. But if you compare space to Earth, Earth was simply perfect, whereas space was a little bit less holy-shit-extraordinary, yet still fantastic.

 Re: WALL-E
To compound on what Magnus said about the humans and their dialogue, because I was about to mention something myself before I read his review...
The only thing that bothered me at all about this film was the captain's mini-speech maybe 3/4 into the film, about how we should treat the earth blahblahblah. I don't really remember the specifics that well, mostly because I was rolling my eyes at how unfitting it was; it was the only time when they literally bashed the viewer over the head with their message by basically stating it. Of course, nothing that would ruin the movie for me, but it had me slightly cringing.
Let the lynching begin.

 Re: WALL-E
I didn't care for the speech either... but it did it's job to help move the love story forward. And that is what the negative reviews on RT are missing. They are looking at the backstory and not the love story, which IS the movie. It's not about humans or pollution or global mistreatment. It's about 2 robots falling in love.

 Re: WALL-E
Well, first off, you have to remember that this is a movie aimed at little kids as much as adults, and if you don't have a scene like that, kids won't get the movie's message, and I think that the youth of all people should be the ones to take away such a strong message, and that's why they need to make sure that not just adults realize that there's more to the movie than cute characters and a wonderful romance.

That's where I disagree. I also read someone say "I came to a movie like this to get away from messages about the world today" or something of that nature. I entirely disagree with that as well. I think it's encouraging that films like Wall-E go beyond just trying to 'entertain' the little tykes and contains themes and undertones not necessarily apparent to the younger crowd. An attempt to dumb down this message simply so it will keep kids involved compromises the movie itself, in my opinion.

The message they sent though doesn't need dumbed down. It's already simple. It can't get more simple than it already is.

I'm talking about the speech that clearly stated the whole thing; it was a little over-the-top. Let's not get too defensive Wall-E lovers; remember, I LOVED IT.

My least favorite part was the Fred Willard confidential message. That was just so painfully obvious, he even emphasized it being the "easy way" more than once.
But those 30 seconds didn't prevent it from being my favorite Pixar movie and just one of my favorite movies made in general.

 Re: WALL-E
Loved it. The opening on Earth showing Wall-E's day-to-day life, Eve's introduction and all the way on up to the landing on the Axiom may very well be the greatest thing ever committed to film. In fact, everything to do with the story of Wall-E and Eve is spot-on perfect. The flaw is in the story with the humans. Luckily it's only in the latter half of the movie and the main story here is still Wall-E's. It also isn't that bad. On it's own it would be a good movie, but placed along side that beautiful love story makes it look way worse by contrast.
In spite of a vocabulary of only about three words, Wall-E is one of my favorite animated characters ever.

In terms of other Pixar movies, this is probably second. I'll have to sleep on it. I'll have a better idea when I take my girlfriend to go see it.

 Re: WALL-E
Alright... time to commit KJ suicide...... YOU PEOPLE ARE F*CKING NUTS CALLING IT PIXAR'S BEST AND POSSIBLY ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! Now, i did enjoy it overall, but it is nowhere near the masterpiece you guys are making it out to be... Sure the animation is breathtaking and perfect and sure the romance between Wall-E and EVE is cute, but............. the movie is a disjointed mess.... It is really hard to explain why, but i was never really able to get into it like Ratatouille or The Incredibles... There were too many physical humor jokes and not enough sensible plot developments. : ( My biggest problem with the whole movie is the premise of the plant and how it came to be... THE FREAKING THING WAS FOUND IN A SEALED REFRIGERATOR WITH NO AIR, WATER, SUNLIGHT, OR ANYTHING ELSE A F*CKING PLANT NEEDS TO GROW!!!!! That is one thing, but then when Wall-E gets ejected in the pod and escapes with the plant in hand, the freaking thing acts as if it was still in earths atmosphere... NO IT IS IN F*CKING SPACE WHERE NOTHING CAN LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH! It just irritates me that a movie that looked so good only turns out to be an amusing kids flick that can't be taken too seriously... B-

Females are going to EAT THIS UP. I went on a first date with a girl to this movie. When Wall-E first reached out for Eve's hand, she took my hand. I'm sensing good things with this relationship.

 Re: WALL-E
wall E
2045 show sold out 500 seat 95% full 06-27-08
trailers: chihuahua is so disgusting that i can't believe it has the disney logo in front of it - F bolt looks pretty fun - A despereaux is interesting although another rodent movie so soon after ratatouille... - B center of earth will probably a joy in 3D - B
film: I think there was one walkout on my side of the auditorium. It was this middle aged woman who brought her two kids to see WallE but she didn't even know what movie she was watching and apparently didn't care for it anyway as she referred to it as "the dumb robot movie." I had to hear about 3 sighs before she finally skedattled.
I didn't have any issue with the so called lack of dialogue in the beginning. I liked all the detail of earth at the start and the intro to the robots and when eve appears things really get cooking. I especially liked Eve rolling through various languages till WallE could understand it. The adventure at the axiom ship and detail of what the humans on that ship had become was cool as well but in retrospect I don't like the look of the humans when they were using live action humans in the videos. Aren't the humans supposed to look "real" too? The last part dealing with the attempt to set the directive in motion and bypass the true "rogue" robots is somewhat weak to me and underwhelming, maybe even over the top with all the humans congregating to that great big open space. Overall, I did enjoy this and sat through it all as opposed to Cars. There wasn't much if any clapping at the end of the film by the audience.
I still give it an A mainly for the creation of all the various robots and the interaction of Eve and WallE.

 Re: WALL-E
Magnus wrote: To say "Pixar has done it again" is an understatement. Because Wall-E is nothing like Pixar has ever done. It has broken down the rules of the computer animation genre and shown just how powerful this medium is.
If there is any flaw in this film, it is the humans, whose dialogue and animation are just good in my eyes, and not close to the greatness of everything else in the film. But to call a "good" thing a flaw is really getting picky, because to expect every aspect of a film to be great is asking too much, even for a masterpiece (which Wall-E is).
Oh, and Presto was great and may be the best short film Pixar has made. I don't know how much CGA has been broken down when the humans look just like the humans in Toy Story 2. However, the visuals of earth, wallE and the other bots and space were excellent though. I agree about Presto. It was very entertaining.
