Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Sex and the City, The Strangers
Kung Fu Panda only has 65 reviews at this hour, which isn't great. It will have a low ratio, but let's hope it picks up. The grade is excellent, however, at an A-.
Zohan is at 469 reviews, though I'm unsure if it had any to start the day.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Kung Fu Panda, Zohan
Kung Fu Panda - 274 (57), +68 (+16), B+ You Don't Mess With the Zohan - 773 (54), +90 (+12), B+ KFP's ratio should be very low, like around 40. Look like a $13-15m day. I'll give a ratio of 90 to Zohan, and if we subtract the 250 before the day started, it would have had 500 by now and on pace for 1,000. That will put it at $12m, on par with Chuck and Larry.

will be close between Panda and Zohan then, it seems
for unknown reason, I was hoping Zohan to score less than 20m OW..

Sandler in a comedy is very reliable, it seems. No matter how dumb the premise, he delivers.

Those aren't very impressive increases for a 2 hour update... I'm getting a little worried.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Kung Fu Panda, Zohan
From Notfabio: Early report for my 3 NJ theaters. -- tonyj1, Jun 6, 20:39 Have had 12 showings of both movies so far (3 theaters) since 6:00 pm. Panda is selling about 60% of what sex did last week. Zohan is running about 20% behind Panda. Its been a busy night but no sellouts. Last Friday I was sold out all night. From http://boxofficemojo.com/forums/viewtop ... 93408e3724Got off at 8pm. My theatre report from AMC Loews Georgetown 14. KFP did very good, 15% better than Horton, so i expect a 15-16 million OD. Zohan was on par with Chuck and larry last year i would expect a 12-13 million OD. Indiana jones was down 36% from last friday. SATC was down 72% from last friday. The Strangers was down 70% from last friday. Ironman down 47% from last friday. Prince Caspian down 49% from last friday.

Kung Fu Panda - 579 (138), +212 (+66), A- (up from B+) You Don't Mess With the Zohan - 1143 (122), +233 (+46), B Quite strong pace at night for Panda, where the animated films are usually weak; bode well for a low ratio. I see $15-16m for it. $13m for Zohan.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Kung Fu Panda, Zohan
Damn was hoping Zohan to do less than $30m. It still has a shot at $100m now Panda should be good for a $55-$60m weekend which is great. With summer weekdays its a good shot for $200m.

As of this post, The Happening has 137 reviews and The Incredible Hulk 183. Not sure why Yahoo is opening films earlier now, but we'll note these numbers before we start tomrorow.

I don't see how Hulk couldn't beat Panda's second weekend, but anything is possible.

I don't see how Hulk couldn't beat Panda's second weekend, but anything is possible. If it drops like Over The Hedge, it's certainly possible, unlikely though. Over The Hedge dropped 29.6% it's second weekend (Memorial Day Weekend, 3-day), 8.6% for the 4-Day. Then dropped 23.7% in it's third. Once Cars was released though, it dropped 50% (which isn't THAT bad all things considered). So a drop around 30% would give Kung Fu Panda around 42M. Over The Hedge saw a 92% increase it's third weekend (probably more comparable to Panda's second, I think, since OTH's second was memorial day weekend and if Panda increase 175%+ like OTH did that weekend, it'd make like around 50M or more this weekend, which yeah, isnt likely. But if it increases around 90/100, then would mean something around 40M wouldnt be too hard to reach.
