 Garner : Elektra "awful"
http://naturalflux7.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10450
Jennifer Garner probobly never thought that telling her co-star her latest movie sucked would find its way into US Weekly and The New York Post.....
But Garner slammed her own latest picture, "Elektra", and indicated she knew it was going to do badly, only attaching her name because it was tied by contract.
This comes after Garner has expressed interest into developing her career as a comic actress, and even forraying into drama because Alias provides her with more than enough action.

:???: Kind of makes me feel stupid for liking the movie. Sorry, Jen. If it's true, of course... ](*,)

Thats so sad.
I can't help but feel shes protecting herself from it, much like a lot of other people do.
And even if shes being sincere there, don't slam your own movie and the people who made it. Is that loyalty? I mean hell, this isn't batman and robin where everyone involved in the project is allowed to pass humorous comments about it.

Well on the "protecting herself from it " she told Michael Vartan, her costar on "Alias". She didnt like splurt it all over the tabloids. It was Michael Vartan's loose lips that let it out that she didnt like the movie. So giving her the heat for it just isnt fair. Its like telling your best friend you think your latest school play is awful, and him telling it to the school paper - except alot bigger.
I enjoyed it - maybe Jennifer couldnt appreciate her own performance. But i sure as hell did. Yet i can see a brewing frustration in the ever-friendly Garner that she wants to be taken more seriously as an actress - she lost some cred by attaching her name to the Daredevil series, whilst at the same time it boosted her into the stratosphere in Hollywood.
But Jennifers got a wierd career- shes got to pick her roles very carefully each year due to the lack of opportunity she has for filming thanks to "Alias" . She had to sacrifice the leading role in "Happy Endings" [http://www.impawards.com/2005/happy_endings_ver2.html] to Maggie Gylenhall due to Fox's desicion to make "Elektra" .
Maybe shes pissed about that.

See thats all kewl and stuff but what bugs me is how such news "slips" after the movie doesn't do well? She told HER friend before and it slipped is THEIR story. Which is why i have a sneaky feeling its sthere to protect her.

Oh yes, that she bitch protector Jennifer Garner discussing how shit her film is with Michael Vartan [her ex boyfriend] who conviently drops it to the press that she hated the movie - therefore having the exact same offensive effect that it would have had if she just said it herself.... Hmm sounds like the worst mini-conspiracy ive ever heard....lets make a movie out of it.

Why must you be so touchy everytime something involves Garner?? Can't you just accept it that someone out there can find the circumstances of that news release a bit "convenient"?

Whats with all the "Cant you just accept" crap every time i say anything. By "accepting" does that infact mean listening what people have to say, and not giving a response back? Every time i retort to anything that anyone says about pretty much anything i have an opinon on - im whipped back with the "Why can't you just shut up and let me win" phrase cleverly disguised as "Why cant you just accept"
I just find it totally ridiculous that ANY actor would go to such lengths to leak their opinion on something. I wouldnt be convinced if you said anyotherbignamehere had used such a tactic....

Me and Jen agree. I thought it was horrible. In my 2006 Razzie thread in the Awards section, Elektra is my first movie posted. Sorry Jen, I miss the Jen from Season #1 of Alias.

What would the point be in Michael Vartan leaking it though....her ex boyfriend? I mean, shes offending all the same people that she would if she actually said it.

What exaclty does "saving face" mean then. Because if thats saving face then ive got its meaning allll wrong.
I thought it meant saving yourself from embarrasment/the hassell attached with making a statement like that. When Rob Bowman et all find out she said that - the reacitons going to be identical towards her anyway.

What I mean is she sees how awful the movie is, how awful the movie did at the box office and is not trying ot act like she really did not want any part of it...Kinda shady if you ask me

Shady indeed... I mean, if Elektra wasn't successful I don't think she would mention that.

Well she did say before the films release that she was incredibly nervous how her fans and fans of Elektra would recieve the film - but didnt care about the box office.
When an actor says that it usually means they know its going to bomb.

I don't think it will really effect her. She still is being hailed for her series, so that's something good.
She might be dead to action movies for awhile, which might be a good thing.
She needs to find a supporting role in an indie movie and work against real actors.

Seriously. People. IMDB. "Catch and Release"....
Before "ELEKTRA" was announced she was secured for "Happy Endings" and then she had to drop out or FOX could take legal action...Jennifer said before "Elektra" and even, curiously, during the promotions she DID attend for the movie that she is keen to return to comedy/drama line in movies. Elektra seems to have been a purely contractual obligation - but she did damn good work for a buisness claus and even if the critics hated it, the audiences didnt want to see and it the star didnt like it [which is still not confirmed, nor is it from the horses mouth. No puns please] - i really enjoyed it. Its probobly going to become a cult hit in years to come because its excellently made. Maybe its not "bad" enough to hit it with the cult audience though.

thats the general consensus for the younger movie going audience - infact i find the same attitudes now amoungst older auds too. But in the end Scathing reviews for Elektra were pretty much unmissable - and any doubts would have been confirmed from them
Hell ive got a friend who wants to be a critic, he saw it twice over last weekend, both times said it was enjoyable and fun on the night - next day at school he was apparently telling people it was pretty rubbish.. Critics = silly. Ill give my opinon on a film and deconstruct it to say what works and what dosent - but at the end of the day ill give my grade based on how much i enjoyed it.

You have every right to comment back. But all your responses when it comes to garner are just .. touchy. Its not about you accepting, its about you wanting to kill anyone's credibility when its an attack against Garner. That is whats bloody annoying here.
