DRAGONBALL $50 million total domestic boxoffice
Join this club.
After speed racer I can totally see this happening since speed racer had more going for it than dragonball.

Dont know about 50 million. I think it would probably be under 100 million but seeing how its rank in imdb and comingsoon are so high, maybe people are searching it alot. I'll have to see how the trailer turns out before I jump the gun

Re: DRAGONBALL $50 million total domestic boxoffice
Ya at comingsoon.net the movie has been in top 5 since it was announced and it slipped to 9th last week. Don't know about imdb though.
The reason why I say it will do 50 million is because i looked up HSX and the price for this is only $58 which is poor. But that has been like that since it was announced. Maybe they didn't update it or it really is in trouble.
I don't know is HSX reliable?

58m could be the production budget, through in another 20-30m and it is just about the same price as the LOTR movies.
I think it could do 50m in 5 days or less.
Hopefully a 50m ow?

If the movie stylisitically is like speed racer then man it will bomb but chances are it is not. Last I heard they were making this realistic though it will have its fair share of silly stuff.

I think the problem is that I really dont see Dragonball appealing to family groups the way Alvin & the Chipmunk and Scooby Doo do. The primary target when the cartoon was at its peak were males between ages 9-14. Theres no silly cutsy animals that make moms, daughters and little toddlers go "awww how cute". One good thing is that it seems to be the most searched movie of 09 from the sites I previously mentioned even with the bickering from imdb, superhero hype, and rottentomatoes. Im not sure if the searches are mainly international or in america but if its just mainly the former, it wont do too well

Dragon Ball isn't opening until April 8, 2009. Besides this all depends on the trailer. It has a better chance than Speed Racer. Only Joel Silver's dumb ass would've produced a dumbass idea like that.
