He'd build the biggest rubber poop monster the world has ever seen!

As for Neil Jordan, there's a thin line between Interview With A Vampire and High Spirits...

I think a lot of the most notable talent's been tapped now. Kevin Smith was offered the big bucks, but turned it down. Darren Aronofsky's doing the Fountain, which is kinda big budget. But most of all, not every indie film maker would probably suit a big budget movie. After all, for every Bryan Singer's X-Men, there's an Ang Lee's the Hulk. I mean, I can't really see Mike Leigh rigging explosions for Will Smith to jump away from... Or can I?

If it was up to me though, I'd pump it all into Terry Gilliam's bank. Or the Coens'! Here's to another Hudsucker Proxy!

Terry Gilliam.

I'd let him film The Man Who Killled Don Quioxte

As long as it got finished this time

I'd pick a director of commercials who impressed me. Maybe the guy who did the C2 commercials, they were very good.

A number of good directors have come from the world of advertising, including Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and the director of Dodgeball.

Two words
UWE BOLL
He can make a 100 million dollar Halo movie devoid of emotion and storyline! It will have semi-cool FX similiar to most video games. And when a character dies in the movie, we can see him shoot a slow-mo 360 camera turn devoted to the character!

Animala was excellent. I knew what was coming when the aliens "learned" to eat from watching her t the dinner table. So painful yet so brilliant. That movie was done on nine bucks, I swear...think what 100 million would do in shotty fishing wire special xf to move the skeleton? I mean, we could even use nylon rope to make sure its visible and everything!

I'm so psyched you saw Skeleton Loyal...it was about a year back. I think I want to try and do a review for it for the site, but geesh were to start?

Maybe with 100 million?

How is The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra?

As part of an article I'm doing for newspaper on the legal downloading sites, I'm trying out Starz! Real Ticket. Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is one of the movies featured (unlimited downloads of the 150 crappy movies they have for the $13..heh...gotta love 14 day trials). Is it worth the download? ;)

Down load it babe. Here's my reasoning (last entry)

http://worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=868&start=75

Its not what you can see...its what you can't miss. This was the oddest movie of 2004 hands down. I can't tell if this guy loved the genre or was parodying it or both (probably both). We were laughing the entire time in the theatres and quoted it for weeks...on the other hand, some people were so irritated they left the movie early. You either love it or hate it, since its going to be mostly about visceral response. Its not deep or profound or anything like that. Just 8 people that decided to do a movie in their backyard (or, had more money than that, but wanted it to look like they shot it in their backyard anyways).

Download it...tell me what you think. If enough people see it we should start a thread in indie/foreign.

The evil bastards who run the program took it away. It was on the program yesterday...I guess they take movies away and add new ones every week. There's always 150, but they change.

Right now, I've tried downloading all kinds of movies (just for kicks) and the only ones that have worked are Scary Movie 3 (bleh) and Bond movies.

It won't be getting a positive review in my article, especially after an incident where it claimed my IP was outside of the US, restricting my "downloading" priveleges...Shitty program. I'll rent it ;).

As for the thread, I'm suprised you aren't interested in seeing what Jim Jarmusch could do with $100m. If we're talking in the other direction, I'm interested in seeing what the Waschowski Brothers can do with $10 million. What now, Matrix fans?

Well if I was being serious you hit the nail on the head. You know me too well, either that or I';m obsessive and don't ever shut-up about directors I like (probably the latter).

Really I would bive the 100 Million to either Etom Egoyan, Jim Jarmusch, Jane Campion, or....I'll think of a few more soon.

"I've seen a bear do things, well... even things that even a bear wouldn't do."

"Why does she need an Amish terrarium?"

"I'm a scientist, I don't believe in anything."

Animala was great!

I sleep now.

Bwahahaha! You've seen it too? I didn't realize how many other people saw this! It only hit one theatre in Chicago for one week. Then travelled on. Were you still in Chicago when it came out Loyal. We probably went to the same theatre again?

Made it to Seattle too huh Andaroo? Excellent. I should have figured. I mentioned it once at BOM and the only one that responded was Makeshift (my memory is fuzzy). Four people on this site is an insanely high number for a movie that grossed about 1 million.

And yeah, Animala's dance was so cute. It was actually not bad for a dance club, but frolicking through the woods and luring men to their doom is quite another.

Archie Gates had the avatar up for a while, I believe.

Perhaps he saw it? ;)

Huh? When? You saw it Archie!

Somehow I think it was Makeshift who had that Avatar. Just a suspicion...could be wrong

Perhaps.

I don't remember January '04 oh so well. I always remember makeshift with the zombie avatar, though.

It played in DC for about a week or two, if I recall.

It came out around this time last year, right? I didnt move from Chicago until the fall.

Another close encounter of the Galia kind. \:D/

w00t! Did you see it over at Century Landmark when it was there for one week (on Diversey and Clark)? I bet you did...I think we almost rubber soldiers again! Its too bad I hadn't yet learned what you looked like then, or I definately would have said hi. So what's that now? HP3, Skeleton, and I forget, did they make you stand at the back of the theatre for the God Awful Stepford Wives and you left early (smart move)?

I know of a place where I and only a couple others have seen movies...so, bleh!

Dolce, did you see Coffee and Cigarettes? Dead Man's the only Jarmusch film I've seen and Coffee and Cigarettes availble on cinemanow and movielink (the other two sites I'm reviewing for the "legal download" article. I already know what I'm giving the Starz! + RealPlayer system ;)). It's a tad expensive for a 24-hour rental, but, eh, none of the other releases seem TOO appealing (I haven't seen Saved!...But, asides from that, the majority is a bunch of blockbusters and the movies studios never really gave a damn about).

Yep, saw Coffee and Cigarettes twice in the theatres. See them all. See every Jarmusch film dammit!

You must watch Down by Law, which is my next fave followed by Stranger than Paradise. Night on Earth, Coffee and Cigarettes, and Mystery Train are all excellent. I;ve seen them all more than once. His weakest to me is still the Whittaker coupling, Ghost God: Way of the Samuria. Its still pretty strong, for me a B-, which is saying something since I consider it the worst of the bunch. Coffee and Cigarettes I would give a B+ to. BTW, are we ever going to do a back-n-forth round on Dead Man?

Ha!

Yeah, I had that avatar awhile back at BOM. Lost Skeleton's great stuff. I'm surprised so many people have seen it and actually like it.

Yeah, The Stepford Wives. Michael Wilmington took my seat and I stood in the back until I realized it was The Stepford Wives. Ah, those were the days.

I was looking at Fandango to see what was playing in Chicago. At the Cantera, Closer, Hotel Rwanda, Finding Neverland, Life Aquatic, The Aviator, Sideways, Million Dollar Baby, House of Flying Daggers, Fat Albert, and about another 20 films are playing there.

That's what I miss most about Chicago. Being able to live at a theater.

Where do you live now? ;)
