Post Mother reclaims child she gave up for adoption
Should children be ripped out of their known families if their birth parents who gave them up for adoption have second-thoughts? I think this is a disgusting ruling which will hurt the child...

Well, it is cruel to the family who has adopted the child, isn't it?

I think they should film it, make a TV show out of it, and put it on NBC after the Apprentice.

For 18 seasons we follow a human fetus into early adulthood as he/she is pushed back and forth between foster homes, through adoption, dragged through the courts, etc. On the 18th birthday that person then chooses who he loves the most.

The winning family gets $1,000,000, the losing families get to cry.

In seeing my brother's kids, I think 3.5 is old enough for it to matter. Maybe if the kids were under 1 or 1.5 if would matter as much even though they would have bonded already with people.

Anyway, I haven't read the above article but I saw this on a news report.

The real mother backed out of the agreement early but it has been in the courts for years.

And they said that this wouldn't be a precedent as it only is a problem if it happens before the adoption is final. After it is finalize, there isn't a problem.

I think they need to change the adoption laws. There should be no reconsideration period. Most places allow about a 30 day period where the birth parent can take the kid back. I think this should be eliminated. Once the child is in the custody of the new parents they are considered the blood parents now and should be treated with respect.

As for this case, it was different becuase appearently she never bothered to tell the blood father about the baby or ask him if he wanted the adoption to take place. Hence he sued for custody.

By three and a half, the child has made crucial bonds with his adopted parents. It is unkind, very unkind.
