Winner announced tonight.

As OscarWatch points out, aside from the Critics' Choice Awards, this is the first showdown between the big three.

My money's on MDB. I think. Maybe not.

Knowing how the PGA has voted in the past, I think Million Dollar Baby and Sideways are both at a disadvantage.

It's The Aviator's award to lose tonight, so unless Finding Neverland or The Incredibles have tricks up their sleeves, it's going to The Aviator.

I think if either Million Dollar Baby or Sideways takes it tonight (unlikely) there will be a huge shift in predictions. I think everyone will finally start to realize The Aviator is far from the lock we all thought it to be.

And personally, I'm rooting for Million Dollar Baby!

I am rooting for Million Dollar Baby or Sideways. I'd be fine with anything winning as long as "Finding" or "Neverland" isn't in the title ;)

Nah. If people like the film I'm not going to make fun of them. It's a very sentimental movie that appeals to a certain demographic of movie goers. But I'm not in that demographic.

I don't see how The Aviator can lose out on this one.

Yay, *counts* 3 years ago Moulin Rouge won this award. And rightfully so.

What demographic is that?

The one that actually likes good movies?

Oh snap =;

LMAO. That was freakin hillarious!!!!!
I'm still laughing!

I don't think there is really a demographic for Finding Neverland. The best demographic descirption would be the Oscar demographic or those biopic (Beautiful Mind, etc) demographic which arent that large at all.
the problem with Finding Neverland is that it falls straight into the Oscar demographic but just isn't that exceelent of a candidate, but somehow the buzz really drove it through the roof!

In my opinion it's one of the weakest films in all of Oscar contention and I am baffled at how it's still in here. It's a nice movie, great idea and brilliant actors but when you watch it, it just doesn't work to its fullest effect, it never really climaxes, and stays falt almost all throughout. It does have amazing performances, least of which is Johnny Depp's who out of all of them will get and is getting the most attention and nods. How awkward!

hahahaha...

But if that's your definition of good...

No, Finding Neverland is a good movie in very many aspects, it's just soulless, boring and cliche.

I think it connects with older audiences. It's the Master and Commander of this year. It's very english. Ironically, I thought Master & Commander was one of the very best films last year. *shrug*

hehehehe :)

Did anybody like Neverland? I'd like to actually start a good discussion. You know... I could have missed something.

By the way Lecter, if it matters at all, Hotel Rwanda is better than The Aviator.

I think the issue some people may have with Finding Neverland is that it's a very classic paint by numbers sort of biopic. It wasn't attempting to redefine the genre. Just a well made and well acted piece of cinema, worthy of all the awards and nominations it has received.

How someone could refer to it as soulless is a bit loony. Any scene Freddie Highmore was in was anything but soulless.

But to each their own.

Freddie Highmore really didn't do anything for me. It felt strangely manipulative from the start. There wasn't a lot of geninue charm in it for me. I felt that his brother-co-stars were better.

I agree, a film doesn't have to reinvent a genre (Million Dollar Baby is proof of this) but it just felt uneven and eventless. The ending (which I won't spoil for anybody) was just blah, and I didn't really even feel the energy in the exchanges between Johnny Depp and Julie Christie. :?

I feel about Finding Neverland the same way I feel about Big Fish. It aims for a certain target and just doesn't quite find its way to the mark.

It's certainly not my favorite of the top 10 Best Picture contendors, but none of the films this year are as bad as the Oh-My-God-I-Can't-Believe-They-Nominated-This-Shit-Gangs-Of-New-York.

I will jump for joy if Sideways or Million Dollar Baby wins this.

If The Aviator wins, I will be mildly happy.

If Finding Neverland or The Incredibles win, I'll go "Bleh."

Well, since my top 2 films of last year won't be getting any awards recognition, I will be championing The Aviator as we head into the Oscars. Nice to see the film pick up the PGA.

Yes! Aviator wins! Another win that strenghtens its chances, especially since it is the first major award where Aviator, M$B and Sideways directly competed...
