:funny:

Being as funny as Borat is no easy feat, but Bruno could certainly accomplish it.

I think Bruno's gonna have to outdo Borat to match the expectations set for it. It might get a $50 million opening after the popularity Borat saw.

Borat was 100% damn stupid. Even more stupid than Ali G. I expect another level of stupidity.
Bruno for Borat will be like Sicko for Fahrenheit 9/11. 30 million total. It works only once.

Yeah Borat was a one off. I can see this dissapointing at the BO.

Yeah, seriously Borat was a fluke, but it was funny and fresh. Now hes another foreign tv host, traveling the world. It won't work twice, and being an offensive gay guy, is much harder to sell than a naive foreigner.

Hmm, I think it'll work well in terms of box-office. I expect an opening of $30 million at least. Rest remains to be seen.

I want to lay a bet on this with you, Doc. I say it will not make even $40 million total. If I win, you will publicly accept that "12" was the worst movie of the decade, and Mikhalkov is one of the most annoying directors ever. Deal?

Umm...almost 30 million for a documentary no matter who makes it is insanely good, especially when it's only about the healthcare system.

Yeah, I know that. Just wanted to make a comparison.

I am willing to bet, but the stakes are no fun. No one here knows 12 and barely anyone knows Mikhalkov.

But this is an easily won bet...

Universal paid alot of money for the rights. In the tens of millions I believe. So it has to make $70m+ to be viable. I think it should manage that - but another Borat sized hit is doubtful.

Well, if you put this in your signature, people will be at least informed, that this evil exists and keep away from it. :D If you want to make it more interesting, you could also put there something like "Rumpelschtiltzchen is the coolest guy in two Universes".

And if you lose you put "Putin is my God and I bow to him" in yours? :P (not that I think this way, but it sounds fun).

Why you are so obsessed with Putin??? :zonks: I mean, he is hot, but Doc...

By the way, that pic was really cool! I wish I would look like this in my 55. Healthy lifestyle works. That's what happens when you don't smoke, don't drink, never try drugs, don't eat trash and care about your health.

I bet Bush looks much worse without shirt (probably like a jellyfish) being 6 years older. :grrr: Haha!
Putin will kick ass of any present day political leader. Any of them!

LOL!
If we are talking about women in politics, my choice would be Ukraine's Julia Timoshenko. That's a wild cat! When I look at her, my first thought is that she bites! That's a woman who can win beauty contests and as easily kick a male's ass (at the moment she is kicking Yushenko's).

when Borat - the movie - was announced (pre-trailer), I bet nobody predicted it would make over $25 million. It's very hard to envision something like this being a box office phenomenon.

But Sacha Baron Cohen is, simply, a genius. If it takes thousands of hours of footage to get exactly what he needs to create another comedy masterpiece at the same level as Borat, he'll do it. When the trailer for Bruno comes around, it will be nearly as popular as, if not as popular as, that of Borat. I'm quite sure of it. I think the fact that it'll be "the guy who did Borat" will push it over the edge and give this more anticipation than Borat. Remember, Borat only opened in like 800 theaters; if it got that 2000+ theater release it was supposed to have, it could've done nearly $40m OW. So I'm gonna predict something similar to that for Bruno, since it'll definitely get a wide release when it opens.

Hmmm....around 25M OW for this, horrible legs for a 65M total. Lightning only strikes twice when it comes to this type of BO phenomenon (Passion's re-release was an epic failure, so was Blair Witch 2) but it will still be succesful. I can see around 110M WW which would definetely turn in a healthy profit.

Em, a $65m finish with a $25m opening would indicate very good legs for a film like this.

I hate Borat, I hate Cohen, and hope this bombs.
