Post Lamest Computer Question. Maybe ever...
So, every time I am on a computer other than my own and copy something to the flashdrive, later when I reopen it on my computer there is always a "trashes"-type empty mirror of what I copied. Sometimes entire folders and random things show up, too. They are all empty of course, and even on my disk the icons show up pale gray, not solid. I delete them and nothing really changes on the disk. But its a pain, and I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong that will eventually come back to nip me.

What are these empty mirrors? Why do they keep coming out of the walls? They frighten me...

Do you have a Mac dolce?

If so I recommend the following.

1. Boot up as you normally would.
(You might want to go make a coffee. I'll have green tea thanks)

2. On your keyboard, prise off that little apple key with the odd spapghetti junction shape on it. You won't be needing that.

3. Grab your coffee! You'll need it soon!

4. If you can, try and prise open the computer unit itself, with a tower this is easy, just unscrew the back and voila. With a laptop, this could take a little rough and tumble, but you should get there.

5. Save any files you have open now!

6. Take your coffee and pour it all over the unit. Be careful not to touch the unit when you are doing this, as we only want to see your shitty computer die, not you.

7. Now sit down and relax for a minute. Has your Mac started back up again? If so then repeat step 6 once more. If not, you've done it! Doesn't that feel better?

8. Grab your phone and give Dell a call. Let them know you fucking hate macs and they are pieces of shit that make you sick to your very core. The asian person on the line wont really understand what you are saying, but they will take this as the go-ahead for the three year support package which will put up your computers overall apparent price. Don't bitch that it was as expensive as your macbook, because not only was it still $350 cheaper, but you also get three years shoddy warranty with it.

 That's a fantastic recommendation Michael, though I'd do it with wine over coffee or tea any day. Only probelm is that I have a PC laptop...

Do you have a variation of that solution for PCs? I'd love to hear it!

Though, I use my brothers scanner and he has a MAC. Do you think all this empty mirror copies are the result of going between the two? I seriously always feel like I am doing something wrong when I see them appear.

Dolce i think you are lying to me as there is no possible way a PC laptop could ever cause a problem ever.

Actually. I got my first bluescreen ever yesterday. I was trying to render a video, and working on a huge image in photoshop with 5 ie windows open and my itunes running. It bluescreened. I freaked.

Sounds to me like your computer is set up to be copying the contents of your folder rather than moving the folder itself. Andaroo would be a good guy to ask about this.

I have a Sony Vaio. Its only a couple months old (got it when I began uni) and its already giving me trouble. Though honestly, I think computers are made to be pieces of crap today. To last about as long as until the programs on them become obsolete. That way, most people just buy a new computer rather than all the new versions of programs.

I swear to god, I've had pairs of shoes that I walk on daily last longer than any laptop I've had in my life. Its ridiculous.
