 Re: The Crucible
A very solid adaptation. Sometimes the acting seems just a tad over the top though. The entire cast is strong, with Joan Allen being the most notable (she didn't over act like nearly everyone else did at some point in the film).

 Re: The Crucible
I wasn't too impressed. It simply doesn't take enough creative liberties with the material. Instead, it's literally the play in a bigger environment. Day-Lewis has his moments, but for the most part, he's just sleepwalking. Some of the material holds up pretty well, but it just doesn't have the intended impact.

 Re: The Crucible
Yeah, it's a perfectly respectable adaptation, gripping and well-acted. But there's no cinema in here. It's flat. Nobody was swinging for the fences on this one.

 Re: The Crucible
I really thought this one was fantastic. Good acting and a very interesting story. Terribly sad at the end, almost cried. One of my favorite dramatic movies.

 Re: The Crucible
It is really a fantastic adaptation and the stuff Miller added was very inspired. Apart from that, it's like the book. Its well made, some good characters. I love DDL as John Proctor, though it is a little preachy and boring at times. I love the relations to McCarthyism though.

 Re: The Crucible
It was a very good film, but it doesn't hold a candle to the actual play, which I'm in right now. Still, it's pretty good and the acting is great. 7/10 ( B )
