shark meat is usually tough if you just pan fry it. Unlike other fish, its not dry when you cook it but comes out quite juicy. Not quite as hard as steak though. Thats why I make stew out of it but havent made it in quite awhile. It goes well with basil leaves and tomatoes plus its very filling

Buy a crock pot, they are the greatest invention ever!
You can just throw shit in, and it comes out tasting like gold. Cheap too. And the recipes are all extremely simple, can be used with any type of meat, etc, they have recipes for everything. Oops, missed this. I've heard that before. I'm trying to think where I could store something like that in our house (we have no counter space or closet space left). I think I might find place for it though if its true. BUT, are you b.s.ing me, or do you actually have one of these - and use it - yourself? Because someone I used to know said the same thing, and I was over his house multiple times a week and never *actually* saw him use it. I felt like he was propagating some urban legend. If you swear by them, I might go down to gracious home and check it out. What's a good brand? Also, does it come with a recipe book or something I could look through to get an idea. My mom, when I was a little girl, used to have a bread making machine. She'd put the ingredients in everynight and set it, and in the morning when we got up for school it wouldn't already be done and we could take huge hunks of bread to school with us. The only problem was, no matter what ingredients she put in the night before, the bread always tasted the same the following morning. Whole Wheat, Carrot Ginger, Apple Spice, Walnut Cranberry, White Bread...didn't matter...it tasted *exactly the same.* My mom eventually got rid of the machine and decided it was better to buy the bread, since then you could get whatever flavor you wanted. But we all realized everything tasted the same because the machine treated all ingredients the same. Kinda like putting everything through a blendor. It'll always taste the same afterwards. I'm worried those pots treat all ingredients the same way, and that everything kind of tastes like goulash the following morning. Don't get me wrong! I love goulash. My mom makes the best goulash on the planet and I wish I could make it (because, like my best cooking habit, it only requires throwing everything into a pot). But I don't want that no matter what I put in the pot, it always tastes like goulash the following morning. I don't know if that makes sense? But if it does, and you still say a pot is worth it, I really will go check it out. Also, this is crucial. Does it make shark fillet stew? I realy want to try that now.

Dolce, I have a crockpot, and I'll second the recommendation. You can slow cook stuff while at work, sleeping, or out. You can make quantity, too, so it's something that can last a few days.

Heh, It's really small Dolce, trust me, you can find space: My apartment barely has any counter space, we just shove it on top of the refrigerator when we're not using it. But to answer your question, it's not like your moms bread at all! That's the beauty of it, you can use it to make homemade chilli, or to cook a stew, or just to cook some chicken, potatoes and veggies while you are at class. Here is a recipe we tried recently: # 6 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breasts, halved # 2 cans pineapple slices, drained # 2 cans mandarin oranges, drained # 1/4 cup cornstarch # 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed # 1 envelope stir-fry chicken seasoning blend We cut the recipe in half, and threw it in, put it on low, and 6 hours later we were eating dinner. It was fabulous!

Uh? Looks like between that and the foreman you can do everything an oven does. Sometimes I wonder to myself why I waste so much space on an oven and dishwasher. I mean, I've lived here for three+ years and haven't used the dishwasher once. I cracked a joke to my mom; I asked her if we could rip out the dishwasher and put in a microwave/convection oven in half the space and a wine cooler in the other half. If you think about it, then we would have the convection oven, and could get rid of the massive oven here that no one uses. I could put in shelves there to store my crockpot, foreman grill, and whatever other cooking technology I would need.
First thing my mom thought when she heard my "get rid of the dishwasher" theory was that she raised a bunch of alcoholics. Second worry she had was that she raised a bunch of kids that will never survive the domestic life. Come to think about it...both her worries might be well founded...
