The Most Annoying Thing In The World Has To Be....
...when you send someone a IM, PM, Email, etc and see that they have read it, but they never respond to it. It drives me insane. I do it also, but it's not like I mean to ignore them or whatever. I just....I don't know, it's hard to describe really. I guess I don't think it's that important to respond back to? But when I tell myself that's why someone else is ignoring a message they read, I say it's not true. They'd respond if they weren't flat out ignoring me/someone.
Anyone else experience this???

Yes.
I'm currently trying to get my friend's apartment keys (among other things, including things of mine), back from his psychotic ex-girlfriend. She read the message (how I love Myspace), but didn't respond. He has her stuff to trade, I don't see why she doesn't jump at the opportunity. Psycho drug dealing bitch.
Unless I'm blatantly ignoring someone, I ALWAYS respond. Sometimes even to tell them I'm ignoring them.

Re: The Most Annoying Thing In The World Has To Be....
I try and shrug it off, I do shrug off the common everyday type stuff. But the more important stuff, important to me, is almost impossible for me to shrug off.
I.... I guess I try and calculate, predict how the entire convo will go. I'll go over a single word sometimes for nearly an hour figuring out how I should respond, and what the best response is. This is the more personal stuff, personal for me at least. And if I get a response, I think I responded correctly. And if I do not get a response, I'll spend days, weeks, maybe longer trying to figure out what the hell I said that was wrong or whatever. Especially if it happens more than once with the same person. But I think it comes back to me trying to figure out the best approach too often. It's not like, say The Inferno here at KJ, when I could just PM people forming alliances with them (or so they thought), and persuade people to vote a certain way, etc. I'd be careful enough to cover myself if someone didn't vote a certain way or something, but other than that it wasnt hard or annoying. So, being calculating works fine for the most part on online boards, but they so do not when it involves people in real life (emails, AIM, etc). And it drives be nuttttts. It's always like, if I could do it in this situation (I'll use the Inferno here for example), why can't I do it with say a love interest or friend? Insane.

how can you tell that somebody read your IM if they never typed or anything?

It's the only online means of communicating that you don't actually know, well, add chat rooms I guess (at least I don't think there is a way to know from an IM). But most people have idle times set, either the default (10 mins I think) or whatever they set themselves. And if they haven't responded in like an hour or more, I think there's a good chance they read it since they weren't idle and didn't go idle.

YES!
IT PISSES ME OFF!
Oh, How bout this!
With me and myspace, I would comment someone, and they would never comment back, but when someone else comments, that person would go and comment the other guy, but wouldnt comment you!
You know what i mean?
Like, Person A comments Person B, but Person B doesnt comment back. Then Person C comments Person B, and Person B comments Person C, but doesnt comment Person A!
I HATE THAT!
Why ignore me? Thats like talking to someone in person and they ignore you!
Its literally the exact same thing!

Oh yes, to many times, especially with the people on Youtube. Some of my PM's have never been read, especially from Armake21 (who did, however, leave a comment on my Clayfighter review).

Re: The Most Annoying Thing In The World Has To Be....
It's annoying when you actually ask someone a question, expecting and answer. If I send someone a stupid pointless PM or email, which I probably do quite often, no big deal if they don't respond. They probably either think I'm an idiot, or they just really don't know what to say in response. I try not to care so much with people I don't really know like you guys. When my real life friends are seemingly ignoring me, that annoys me a lot.

Re: The Most Annoying Thing In The World Has To Be....
It depends on the kind of message, if it contains 1 or more questions and he/she doesn't answer, I become a little annoyed or sad or suspicious, etc , because it obviously also depends on the importance of the question. One of the problems I have with university, I send an email to a teacher to ask for the program and the books to study, but many don't answer, hell some don't even read it. Another big factor is what person gets the PM/email, someone I trust and like would certainly give me a bigger displeasure if the content of the message is important.

I don't like it when its someone you are "courting" who doesn't reply. Aside from that im like whatever. I know that not everyone can always reply for a multitude of reasons. Its why i phone a lot. People can't dodge the bullet then.

So when I get home from work I always find a few messages from hours ago that I never saw. Plus, I always go unidle in the middle of the night and people think I'm there when I'm really sleeping.

No more ignoring from the guy I was talking about. Though he may not have been ignoring me to begin with since I often overthink shit. And he even gave me his number.

The most annoying thing? A sudden downpour while I go down the interstate on my bike. It doesn't happen very often, but it's absolutely awful when it does. You get wet very quickly at 80 miles per hour, and terribly cold a few seconds afterwards.

It's about ten times worse in person than online. When I say something stupid, usually my friends just laugh at me, but it's worse when they just ignore it because of how lame it was. It makes me wanna bowl for Columbine.
What?

Ah no. The most annoying things in life are Dominance, Arrogance and Greed. Oscar Wilde — 'A bore is someone who deprives you of solitude without providing you with company.'
