And I would've thought you were simply..."Rusty".
Unless they sound really young and end up having a name like Eleanor, Eunice, Bobby, or Lester, it's really hard to assume someone's name and be right.
What's yours, rusty? Matt? Francois? Jean-Claude? Josef? Leonardo?

Ooh. Can I toy with your emotions, Mr. X, and utterly diss your name? (Hey, at least you don't share your name with the manwhore in Friends... )
Jo ey is childish. The "ey", as opposed to Joseph or Joe, bring back the old days when kids were thirteen and their parents would cheer them on in a baseball game and shout "Go, Joey, Go. Run!". But, it isn't "adult" enough to put in front of an office, ya know? Which might be why it sounds stupid.
Joey isn't that bad, though. It isn't as bad as Bobby.

Exactly! A fart by another other name would still smell the same.

Well, in my own defense, Joseph is my full first name, and most people call me Joe anyway. Actually, EVERYONE does. Every single one of my teachers calls me Joe. It makes me feel old, mainly because my great uncle's name is Joe.

Joey sounds like the "special" kid who got to ride in his own bus to get to school.

All right, all right. Want to cool it with the name insults? You're really insulting my parents, you know that, right? They chose it, not me.

Because, to some, names often refer to certain figures. That's why no one names their kid Britney anymore
