Man, it's really sad that I still haven't seen this. I am waiting for a good new DVD edition to come out in Germany and I'll give it a blind-buy.

I recall that you didn't really like Fast Times at Ridgemont High that much? These two movies are pretty similar, so a caution before blind-buying it (though you made this post half a year ago so you probably already bought it).

btw, I also give this movie an A.

Actually, I haven't. The new edition wasn't released in Germany until not too long ago. I still might, though. This has a generally better response even than Fast Times.

this is the best pure teen movie of the 80s. with its joyous impromptus and non-sequiturs (hughes is really the godard of teen movies), it still feels fresh and original today, even though the look is classic 80s. broderick is a charming little bastard in the title role. my grandma watched the movie and hated him at the beginning because of his "anarchic" behaviour, but completely loved him at the end. nobody can escape that movies charm.

Just behind Dazed & Confused as my favorite high school/teenager movie. Great, great message her.

This is nothing like Fasttimes at Ridgemont High. I love FT, but this is polar opposites to what FT is all about. FB is what highschool could be if you did what Ferris did, but FT is more realistic. But they are both hilarious.

One of my all-time favorites. At this point, I can't even tell whether or not it's well-made...I can't judge it as a film. It's just an experience that my friends and I are willing to have over and over. The Twist & Shout scene's ultra-classic.

"There is an intruder - male, Caucasian, possibly armed, certainly weird - in my kitchen. M-my-my-my name is Bueller...[pause] Look, it's real nice that you hope my brother is feeling better, but I'm in danger, okay? I am very cute, very alone, and very protective of my body. I don't want it violated or killed, alright? I need help! Speaka de English? DICKHEAD!"

Love this movie so much.

Post Re: Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Has anyone read the Ferris Bueller Fight Club theory?

Quote:
Ferris Bueller, the person, is just a figment of Cameron's imagination, like Tyler Durden, and Sloane is the girl Cameron secretly loves.

One day while he's lying sick in bed, Cameron lets "Ferris" steal his father's car and take the day off, and as Cameron wanders around the city, all of his interactions with Ferris and Sloane, and all the impossible hijinks, are all just played out in his head. This is part of the reason why the "three" characters can see so much of Chicago in less than one day -- Cameron is alone, just imagining it all.

It isn't until he destroys the front of the car in a fugue state does he finally get a grip and decide to confront his father, after which he imagines a final, impossible escape for Ferris and a storybook happy ending for Sloane ("He's gonna marry me!"), the girl that Cameron knows he can never have.

I watched it last night for the first time in a non-edited mode on TCM. Hadn't realized that some of the good Rooney jokes were edited. Good film.

I'd seen parts of Ferris Bueller over the years, probably the entire film, but never in one sitting. It's amazing how good it is. John Hughes had so many classics (and a few duds).

Did Lecter ever see this?

For some reason I had never realized Caius posted that Fight Club theory in here and I recently heard radio guys talking about it. They obviously didn't get it. But it's very interesting.

Eh, its not as bad as the entire Ocean's franchise inside Clooney's head when the Parole board asks him what he'll do when he gets out.
