 Re: Building A Consensus: T-Minus 7 Days
Brilliant idea loyal! I love it. It will be cool to have a set of forum-consensus predictions of all the major categories just before the nominations are announced. It will gauge just who the surprise nominees really are, at least in contrast to the view of the consensus.
My predictions:
Original Screenplay Juno Lars and the Real Girl Michael Clayton Ratatouille The Savages
Adapted Screenplay Atonement The Diving Bell and the Butterfly Into the Wild No Country for Old Men There Will Be Blood
Peace, Mike

I think the consensus for Adapted Screenplay is already obvious.

 Re: Building A Consensus: T-Minus 7 Days
Adapted is pretty set, unless they really hate Atonement...but what could replace it?
Original is harder: Juno and Michael Clayton are set. The Savages should be (best screenplay of the year), but I think it's small enough to possibly fall out. Ratatouille will most likely be in since it needs some recognition besides animated. Then it's Knocked Up vs. Lars, but both could get in if The Savages falls out. Oh, and a small chance Waitress gets in.
But yeah...I'll predict Juno Michael Clayton Ratatouille The Savages Knocked Up

Zodiac. It got the WGA nom and the USC Scripter nom, whereas Atonement missed the former and The Diving Bell missed the latter.

Why wasn't Atonement eligible?
Original Juno Michael Clayton Lars and the Real Girl The Savages Ratatouille [40YO Virgin got in, so I'm REALLY hoping Knocked Up knocks something out. Stupid Juno stealing its thunder!]
Adapted Atonement The Diving Bell Into the Wild No country for Old Men There Will Be Blood

40YO didn't get in Raff, so I don't expect Knocked Up to be in either...

So, basically the consensus with Zodiac over Atonement. I'm far more interested in the results for S. Actress, where after the main three it's completely up in the air.

Eh, Jon, I think you'll find fairly clear consensus for Keener with probably 90% mentioning her.

What are you talking about? I could have sworn 40 Year Old Virgin was nominated for Original Screenplay. I guess not. I looked back and it was nominated by the Writer's Guild for Original Screenplay. Maybe that's what I remembered.
