And... Quote: Michelle Pfeiffer (Lamia) - "Stardust Michelle Pfeiffer (Velma Von Tussle) - "Hairspray" I'd love if one of her performances got in. Glad to see some Stardust love too. And yes, what exactly happened with Zodiac? Did they hate it that much?

 Re: BAFTA Longlists
Quote: Thanks to David for sending these in. The BAFTA’s actual foreign language noms: * The Diving Bell and the Butterfly * The Kite Runner * The Lives of Others * Lust, Caution * La Vie en Rose Also, someone asked whether the BAFTAs will be televised and yes they will be. So contenders looking to up their profile before a podium, which is sometimes how you can win these things, can fly off to merry old England. The BAFTAs are a very entertaining, almost always funny and surprising, awards show. They air here on BBC America.

 Re: BAFTA Longlists
The BAFTAS ignored Garner in place of Janney.
Juno hasnt even had a theatrical release in the UK yet, and Jennifer Garners lower overall standing in the UK thanks to Janney's high profile role in teh heavily promoted airings of The West Wing expose how much of a shambles the BAFTAS can be sometimes.
They opt for people that they know to be acclaimed rather than legit talent. I think the BAFTAS are more predictable than the Oscars or Globes.

I don't get all the talk about Jennifer Garner in Juno. She was good, but no way in hell was she worthy of awards attention.

The Lives of Others did really really well for a foreign flick. However, I expected all those noms for it as you can see here: viewtopic.php?p=1066892#p1066892The Brits just loved the flick. Atonement...well, that's expected. I wonder if it can win Best British and Best Overall Film...has that ever happened before? Great for There Will Be Blood.

When was the last time a movie won Golden Globe Drama AND BAFTA without getting a Best Picture nom at the Oscars?

Atonement power as expected. If American Gangster had been replaced by Into the Wild, it would have been great. Glad to see Bourne here, very well deserved! TF no special effect nod!

What he means is that the movie has zero in common with the book, names aside pretty much.
