Post Re: BFCA Party Down Thread
So uh two of my last three #1s of the year were < 5 mil box-office failures (I'm Not There and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). Not sure what to make of that.

*are we at page 22 yet*

So um what time does DGA usually announce? Will I be able to catch it in the morning before school, or am I headed for a morning of feverishly looking at the clock and ignoring the rest of the class.

Last year they announced shortly after noon. We should probably expect a similar time tomorrow.

What are you talking about? You seem to be inferring that the fact that he speaks with an accent indicates he has to "try and speak English."

That's really gross, dude.

it had nothing to do with that. When he accepted his award for actor he was so scatter brained and made no sense. He was much better when he accepted for the Coens.

Um, so um, No Country is overrated.

I sort of agree, but I'm finding it a bit hard to fault it for winning stuff. I mean, I do have it as my #6 of the year.

I gave it an A. So it's not bad, not at all. But I sat through a one hour podcast today about the film. I can't take it anymore.

It's a cat and mouse thriller with an arty ending.

Considering there are films like "Crash" out there that occasionally take home Best Picture, you should be overjoyed that a film you gave an "A" to is likely gonna win it.

Heh, awesome thread guys!
I agree with No Country being way overrated...
After watching Ratatouille again, i wish that all these awards people would get it through their narrow-minded heads that an animated film could very well be the best picture of the year... :disgust:

Okay, so I read the whole thread. Predictable winners. I actually predicted Enchanted to win Family Film. Only surporises to me probably the Best Young Actor/Actress winners.

However, has the BFCA ever matched 4/4 with the Oscars for acting wins? I don't think so...

I somwhow still think Atonement will have a late surge with the BAFTAs and the Globes, but it probably won't be enough. It's more deserving of a win than The Departed, Crash, Chicago, etc...even Million Dollar Baby. For me, it'd be the most deserving BP winner since American Beauty, which means it'll probably lose and have a similar fate of a movie like The Hours.

Lecter: it has matched once in 2003/04 aka most boring year ever :)

Heh, I could just imagine loyal throwing another fit with an Atonement win.

I don't know which win would upset me more, Atonement or Juno. I guess Juno because it is such an unworthy comedy, whereas Atonement at least looks the part of the BP winner. But Atonement definitely ranks below No Country and Sweeney and presumably, Blood.

Still not seen it, eh? Mister "they'll be online when everyone gets back to work", or should I say... Mister LIAR!

By the way, I decided to read this thread from start to finish this morning... what a fucking horrible tease that turned out to be. If you're going to say something like "wow, that was awkward", or "Clooney didn't like that!", for the love of god, could you be a bit more descriptive for those of us who can't see what's going on. Just a nice little qualifier at the end maybe. Something like this perhaps:

"wow, that was awkward when DL started raping Clooney"

"Clooney didn't like that! By which I mean being raped by DL!"

Agreed with Snrub! On many things!

I started reading this thread and had no idea what was happening during the show (this was after the show, by the way). I stopped reading after page 4.

Also, yes, loyal's talk about Sweeney Todd and Blood screeners hitting the internet had my hopes wayyyy high and I'm really, really disappointed.

You're off the hook, loyal.

I'm seeing it tonight in theaters. And I don't really care that much about Sweeney Todd.
