Because if you notice you give an A+ to any movie released by George Lucas and an "F" or "D" to any movie released by Steven Spielberg with perhaps the exception of War of the Worlds to which you gave a...C-? We know you hate his movies but seriously you need to diversify a little bit else you risk becoming narrowminded, at least more so then it seems you already are.

Not true. I just don't go and say "That's a Spielberg movie! F-!" As you see, I gave REASONS (not all of them, of course) why I hated Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, whatever. I mean, I loved Jaws, gave that an A +++++, my top 25, I also gave Raiders A ++++++ and Empire of the Sun a C + while I gave War of the Worlds a D - (I lowered it after I watched it again). But yeah other than that most Spielberg movies get an F from me lol. And by the way I love tons of non-Lucas movies =D.

You are missing the point. I don't quite understand why you hate his movies (other then Jaws) but I'm not going to argue. You have a right to your opinion but I have every right to disagree with you and think you are being narrow minded.

Ah, the naivity of youth, wish I could go back.

I don't see why people think he is so brilliant when his movies are about as shallow as you can get.

Let me go through a few:

Jaws -- One of the most terrifying films ever made. Keep in mind in 1975 it literally caused people to not go into the water nationwide. It was not just a few people, there have been countless stories of people terrified by the film. While the production was quite troubled the resulting film is considered a classic.

Jurassic Park -- A techincal marvel beyond what had ever been seen up to that point. While the screenplay did not follow the book in any way shape or form, the film is widely regarded as a masterpiece.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park -- Probably his least enticing film as it sunk into many cliches of the genre and was more of a crowd pleaser then a well-made movie. If anything this film was shallow.

Minority Report -- Visually astounding. The plot, acting, effects, production quality was near perfect. Easily one of his best films.

A.I.: Artificial Intelligence -- Created as an homage to Stanley Kubrick, a project the latter had worked on for 12 years. While on the surface it may appear to be shallow it is a film with great depth and emotional quality. Yet another techincal achievement.

The Terminal -- A film with a decidedly mixed reaction. While some say it is too sappy, others have greatly appreciated its plot and acting. A personal favorite of mine.

I wasn't born then but my mom tells me a few stories lol. I love the movie though.

It's a technical marvel, other than that, it's not a good film. The book was 100 times better and could've translated better on screen (yeah, you can say Michael co-wrote the script but he should've at least kept the pteradactyle and river scene in there!).

Quote:
The Lost World: Jurassic Park -- Probably his least enticing film as it sunk into many cliches of the genre and was more of a crowd pleaser then a well-made movie. If anything this film was shallow.

I actually prefer this one over the original... I give it a 4/10 (D) while I give Jurassic Park a 0/10 (F-).

Visually is good. But it's another Spielberg crap-fest. Tom Cruise crying over his dead son? Wtf?! What is up with Spielberg and children in danger? It's like every movie he has made has some child in danger, even if it is pointless. In fact, many people agree the plot was bad. I could go on to explain why but I will just do that in the MINORITY REPORT thread.

lol I can't believe you defended this Pinocchio-wanna be crap. Even most Spielberg-fan agree that this is one of his worse movies (the ending was so cliched it was not even funny).

Haven't seen this.

Surprised you didn't mention Schindler's List, E.T. or Saving Private Ryan. My 3 least favorite movies of all time  .

Truly one of the most engaging films of the 90s,beautiful to look at, good performances if a simple plot. Yet its still very suspenseful and you care for the characters, and Jeff Fucking Goldblum. enough Said.

A+

It's hard to believe this plastic film is made by the same guy who made the gritty suspenseful Jaws. Fun film though for what it is. But not scary in the slightest.

WTF??? What the Fuck??? How don't you get that? The mans son dies and he's emotionally hurt by this,,,he cries... Is that unnatural? Something that people don't do??? It letting you in on who he is and why he does what he does. I don't know how anyone could down that part.

Now, back to the subject:

Jurassic Park is the only film I've seen in the theaters 3X. When I was a kid I was a dino nut so this was a homerun with me. I was flat out floored at the time with the effects. They're still holding up pretty well today. The story could have been better but thats now what drew the world in.

Effects A+
Story C

Overall B pushing B+

Doesnt have the re-watchablity it once did for me.

I'll never love it as much as I did when it was released. I was a kid... I loved dinosaurs... And this was the first movie where they came to life. It was amazing.

Unfortunately, the magic has been a little tarnished because of the next 2 (not because they are bad, but because it now has a "been there, done that" feeling to it). But, I still have it in my top 10, cause it is a great movie, and I'll never forget how it felt the first time I saw it.

Absolutely thrilling action/adventure. I never grow tired of watching this. Phenomenal special effects and terrific fun. The T-Rex scene is simply amazing.

Its been a good decade since i last saw this film and I have to say its still fills me with warm memories of the perfect summer film (I was 15 back then). The first 20 mins was a bit slow but thats about the only bad thing i can say. The FX stand up well today against all the 21st Century CGI and the dinosaurs are significantly better than PJ's dinos in Kong (well atleast the stampede).

Grade: A

This is adventure filmmaking at its finest. Sure, Spielberg goes over-the-top with metaphors at some points [some of the characters eat ice cream while the other characters get eaten like ice cream], but holy hell is it one of the most entertaining films I've ever seen. And extra kudos for using the first CGI so successfully.

It's fine enough, but it's also too long with too much pretentious, on-the-nose dialogue about playing God and such.

I prefer Jurassic Park III.

This movie can stand along the big movies today and not look out of place. Transformers, Pirates, Spider-man, and Jurassic Park. It's gotta be the best VFX of all-time.
