Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Utah & Florida)
Hell, FINALLY, some awards recognize that Affleck was LEAD in Jesse James, not supporting. This has been bugging me for a while now.

Previous winners include Pan's Labyrinth, Match Point, Hotel Rwanda, and Monster. Not yet. They appear to not announce until early January. I DO like that category though.

Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Online Film Critics!)
Those are very, very good noms. And good for Laura Linney finally getting a mention. Only thing I really disagree with is Atonement for adapted screenplay...it's screenplay was what ruined the movie for me. It was terrible.

Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Online Film Critics!)
Solid noms.
I think the Best Supporting Actor is looking the most solid right now. The five names up there is what I expect to see at the Oscars at the end.
Zodiac got some solid love too.

Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Online Film Critics!)
Simply because they have the balls to actually give a nom for original screenplay to Ratatouille makes them less narrow minded and more open than and above all more awesome than all previous critic award, except maybe Boston who gave Brad Bird the award.

Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Online Film Critics!)
what, you guys all think critics have "agendas" and "work for studios" and shit like that? Maybe they all just liked Ratatouille, but upon thinking about it later on, didn't love it enough to name one of the five best of the year. I personally think it is one of the five best of this year, but that doesn't mean I despise those who ignore it. It isn't a film for everyone. Little kids and people with limited taste in film certainly didn't like it much.

Umm...it just seems like they wanted to give every single contender one award, with a few exceptions.

The main problem with Ratatouille was its release date, critics have forgotten about the best reviewed film of the year.

Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Online Film Critics!)
It made 104 top ten lists (six of them at #1). Critics didn't forget about it. God forbid they could pick something else as #1.
Yes, it was the best all-around reviewed movie of the year, but that's a deceiving title. It means the movie got the widest general acclaim, not that it struck the most critics as the #1 movie of the year.
And it's not like shit like Epic Movie or Norbit is beating it out for the top spot listings.

Re: Misc. Film Critics Awards (Kansas City Film Critics!)
I'm not even sure how Tilda Swinton can win some of these awards. I mean... she was fine, but would anyone that saw I'm Not There and Gone Baby Gone really vote for her over Blanchett and Ryan, let alone the majority? It's not really on the same level. I think it's more likely the KC voters just didn't see those two movies or something.
