Dolce, I was referring to Leviticus more than to Genesis. I think it's pretty explicit there.

Mind you, most of the laws there confuse the hell out of me #-o

And ya, what's with all the weird sex in the Bible?

Nm the Song of Songs, some of the other stuff is weird. Lot and his daughters having sex with him? That implied (but improbable) Noah/son thingie, Reuben bedding Jacob's wife...

The picture makes me feel sad and it also angers me a bit. I really don't care to change the opinions of people who feel that way or go on any crusades myself, but I don't understand people who feel the need to express their hate in public. I really don't see how homosexuality is the business of that little old lady in the picture.

The picture makes me sick to my stomach. People like this are assholes in my opinion, and if they want to start spouting off sins from the bible why don't they look up the hudreds of others sins that are in the bible that they seem to overlook.

People who HATE people or do not like people bc of their sexual orientation are sad sad individuals

That second picture is grossly misguided and terribly prejudiced (well, duh???)

For one, the majority of AIDS victims are NOT gay.

Second, AIDS is NOT a gay disease; never has been, never will be. It can (and does) affect all human beings, irrespective of gender, orientation, etc.

Third, they are forcing about a connection that is not there, read: homosexuality is a sin, therefore AIDS is God's punishment for gays.

By that logic, the tsunami is God's punishment as well, as are 9/11 to Americans, the Holocaust to Jews, Gypsies, etc., and so on.

A person with that mindset needs prayers; I don't know what could possibly lif them up from such depths. I'm pretty sure that such viewpoints, if unredeemed, would not find favour with God.

Most hicks are not well educated. Do you have a problem with that, Mr. torrino?

BTW, When I was growing up my favorite soft drink used to be Fanta (I think it was originally from Italy) and later replaced by Torrino

It still does not prove anything.

From an earlier post of mine, which I looked for jsut for this thread:

An Abomination - Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13
Perhaps the two most widely abused verses used to condemn homosexuality come from Leviticus.

You shall not lie with man as one lies with a women; this is an abomination.

Leviticus 18:22

If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they should surely be put to death.

Leviticus 20:13

First of all, the Holiness Code of Leviticus was written primarily as a ritual manual for Israel's priests. Christians today are not bound by the rules and rituals described in Leviticus. (Galatians 3:22-25) If Christians today insist on using this passage to condemn homosexuality, then it can only be assumed that they are also bound by the other rules and rituals described in Leviticus.

Among other things, the Holiness Code of Leviticus prohibits:

Sexual intercourse during a women's menstrual cycle
Tattoos
Wearing certain types jewelry
Eating rare meat
Wearing clothing made from a blended textiles (cotton-polyester blends)
Cross-breeding livestock
Sowing a field with mixed seed
Eating or touching the dead flesh of pigs, rabbits, & some forms of seafood
Men cutting their hair or shaving their beards
The Holiness Code also endorses polygamy and requires Saturday to be reserved as the Sabbath. Obviously, it is unfair to use these passages to condemn homosexuality, while ignoring the fact that most Christians do not follow the rest of the rules and rituals outlined in the Holiness Code of Leviticus.

It should also be noted that the word abomination was translated from the Hebrew word toevah and means something found detestable by God because it is unclean, disloyal, or unjust. The term abomination is generally associated with idolatry and the Canaanite religious practice of cult prostitution (Ezekiel). Given toevah's strong association with cult prostitution it is unlikely to apply to loving responsible homosexual relationships.

As always people, can choose to interpret the Bible in any way they can, and, hey...surprise...they do. You (you not really meaning you, box :P) can choose it to baxk up their anti-gay agenda, I can use it for jsut the opposite and wind up with a prettty solid arguement.

While the Bible is great, as a piece of literature, and maybe if humans weren't, um...the way they are, it could have even been great as some kind of guide in your life. But that's not the case, which has taught me that the Bible is just a valid of an instrument in morality and such as any other book I take out form the library, or pretty much anything. Hmm.....maybe even...*gasp* your brain? Wisdom? COMMON SENSE?

Wait, you're making a big mistake here: people who are uneducated are not automatically prejudiced, and people who are educated are not automatically tolerant. It is as likely that the majority of the people you see in that picture are educated as it is that they are uneducated.

All the arguments against their views that you might throw at them, they already know about them. The thing about prejudice is not that there is no education, but that no amount of education can change the mindset. They have pre-judged, and they will not change their views necessarily post-education.

Exxceptions abound, but generally, prejudice does penetrate all education classes, further proof of its universality.

I wouldn't say that by your writing

Most of the people who hate generally tend to be uneducated and like these groups because hatred against something gives meaning to their otherwise pathetic lives.

That doesn't make them uneducated. It just makes them uninformed and unreasonable ;)

That's my point Rod. For as long as there is one passage that supports people's anti-gay sentiments, it will be used as proof of God's disapproval of homosexuality.

That there are other passages contradicting others doesn't seem to be of great concern; s I said in my reply to lovemerox just above, the thing with prejudice is that, irrespective of knowledge, it still remains.

The gays that annoy me and give me these (sometimes) absurd opinions are the ones that have to make it a statement that they are gay, really bugs me, if they are gay why dont hey ust shut up about it, well, unless that is the subject anyway, then its cool, but i cant stand gays that have to shout it about as a reason to why things arent going good for them.

Make it obvious also. irritating.

WHy should they "hide" who they are? You really think they care what YOU think? Dude, some people make it a point that they are black, white, hispanic, straight...ect the list goes on. I make it a point during the election for people to know that I was a liberal....should people hate me?

Get over yourself dude...

Why do you think so many people have given up on the Church? They can't stand this crap anymore, and of course they'll leave. I can't blame them at all. It's important to note though, that the message itself is fundamentally about love, as it has always been, but that it's the messengers that should be pushed aside (if they advocate anything other than love).
