Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Fred Claus, Lions for Lambs, P2
the sante clause had great reviews. Im gonna pay more attention to crowd reports; both standard vaughn film/teen comedy and family film ratio point a potentially 15 million+ friday; swhich isnt happening, so....
assuming it reaches 1800 reviews; than even if the frontpage jacked up the ratio as much as it could; 10 million would still the minimum, because 180 would be smiply ridiculous for this kind of film .

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Fred Claus, Lions for Lambs, P2
I know Allen's movie had great WOM and had incredible legs. I think it debuted #2 behind Interview with a Vampire that year in the low 20's and went on to make 170 million. In today's dollars that would be like 250 million so it was a huge hit. Unless I am wrong, I don't see FC doing that.

Reviews aside, the film has posted weak advance sales (confirmed again today), and a large portion of the demographic it targets still may favor the stronger Bee Movie.

Family movies, IMO don't do great in advance sales. I remember the Santa Clause 2 had horrible advance sales and that opened in the mid 20's.

It just seems the only positive sign is coming from Yahoo, which has us scratching our heads. It's very possible the pace could start to slow significantly, which would make more sense.

I dont see how the advance tickets sales will discriminate against FC when its still going strong for Bee Movie which is in fact a family comedy

I guess it could have a very low ratio, who knows yet. I guess we will have to rely on crowd reports to confirm either one.

Fred Clause is half of Bee Movie in it's second week. 8%.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Fred Claus, Lions for Lambs, P2
Well Bee Movie could because of Seinfield. Usually an animated movie like Bee movie wouldn't be doing that well on Fandago. I know Happy Feet didn't.

I dont see the logic of Seinfield selling that much in advance tickets when a star like Vaughan cant do it. I mean like twice as many tickets against FC in its second week. The yahoo ratio does seem kind of odd and is the only thing going for it. Then again yahoo reviews threw us off track on Saw 4. I guess waiting for Crowd reports are more important even though alot of the advance sales and notfabio's reporting doesnt bold too well. We can always post that stinking Loews theater report sellout from NY

Although much of the legs for that movie came from it's holiday theme (which includes an increase on Thanksgiving weekend), which rings true for other movies like Polar Express and Elf. Once December passed it had 60%+ drops.

Adjusted for inflation it would be at like 250 now. After saying that I forgot about Home Alone, so SC is second then.

I am guessing LFL is getting a lot of fake anti-Cruise votes.

Re: Yahoo Review Thread - Fred Claus, Lions for Lambs, P2
Lions for Lambs will obviously have a very high ratio. I definitely don't see it matching MTC tracking. Fred Claus has slowed considerably throughout the day - a sign the ratio will indeed be higher. I'd say $9-10M, if I had to guess. I see P2 in the $750K-900K range.
