 Re: Enchanted
B+ It's very sweet and "happy" and Amy Adams is just adorable in it. but it was missing a total awe factor that I was expecting. But the musical numbers were awesome. I wish they had more. loved Pip! and James Madsen was sooo hot. I really have a huge crush on him I think. and I loved the new "feminist" take on the classical happily ever after ending. all in all, a very satisfying movie that was just short of brilliant.

 Re: Enchanted
ENCHANTED: 9/10 (A) Wow, wow, wow. That is all I can really say about Disney's comeback of sorts to traditonally animated films. I expected to really enjoy Enchanted but not love it to pieces but I honestly really did. I loved all the songs, I think my favorite would be the working song one. It was so cute! Amy Adams deserves an Oscar nomination, if not a win. I couldn't believe there was Oscar buzz surrounding her but then I saw it and it's deserved. I hope she's nominated and if she wins, I'll be extremely happy. This was incredibly fun and overall a great movie. Also, I loved the chipmunk Pip. He was adorable! One of the best animals of the year for sure. This was a really great movie and one of the best of the year. I highly recommend it.

 Re: Enchanted
Just wanted to add something...
I think the best review quote I've seen or heard for Enchanted has not come from a critic... It was from my sister. When I asked her what she thought of the movie as we walked out of the theater, her exact words were:
"It was ridiculously adorable!"
I told her that'd be the kind of sentence to be quoted in TV spots were she a known movie critic. And I agree with her sentiment--it really was ridiculously adorable!

Watching this movie is like having a crush. You love every thing about it even the stuff that you normally wouldn't.
Amy Adams was just about the cutest thing I had ever seen.

 Re: Enchanted
Amy Adams was perfect. No one else could play Giselle. The movie was also a surprise. If you asked me two weeks ago I would have said I had no plans to see this, but as the release date got closer I was starting to warm up to seeing it after all the good reviews. Glad I saw it with my family. The film was entertaining. Amy Adams deserves a Golden Globe and Oscar. A/A-

 Re: Enchanted
I'm in love with this movie. It's reminding me a lot of the way I feel about Beauty and the Beast, which is, IMO, the best Disney film ever, the best animated film ever and one of my favorite movies of all time. Amy Adams is just perfection. I want her to win the Oscar.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that either. The most romantic movie in years sounds better.

Once is neither, buy I can at least grasp the concept of why one would believe it to be the latter. Flame on lovers. The biggest reason I want to see Enchanted is so I can be amused but underwhelmed and argue about why Enchanted isn't the masterpiece The Mouse House wants you all to think it is. Though I'm sure Amy Adams is delightful at lampooning the Disney Princess caricature.

I guess the reason I'm not planning on seeing Enchanted is because that's really what I'd expect my reaction to be. Other than Pirates I've found live action Disney films this decade to be very irritating across the board.

 Re: Enchanted
No one's claiming Enchanted is a masterpiece. It's just a really cute movie that's a ton of fun and pretty difficult to dislike. You watch it for 100 minutes and you're like "haha, awesome." That is why you watch it.

Hmm you don't need knee-bent love speeches and hour long sunset kisses to be romantic... Before Sunset didn't. And when I said "last couple years", that (and some other films in 04) was the reference point.

Of course you don't need those things to be romantic, I'm not saying that the guy giving the girl he fell head over heels a piano isn't. But beyond that it was her admiration not being able to match his love. That's more realisitic and to most more relatable than The Notebook or Stardust (both of which came out 2004 or later ) but I certainly don't think it's more romantic.

 Re: Enchanted
I just got "That's How You Know" and "So Close" off iTunes. I guess I wasn't really paying attention when I saw the movie, but "So Close" is really pretty (it's the song that's played in the ballroom scene).

 Re: Enchanted
It was cute and funny, but I was actually a bit disappointed that it didn't have more bite. I know they don't all have to be as cynical as Shrek, but I found myself really aching for some good old-fashioned digs at the genre; it all just got a littttle too cutesy for me at the end.
Amy Adams is great, but I don't know how I feel about the word "Oscar" being thrown around for this one. I guess I'll have to see more of this year's female performances before I judge.
Solid B.

I saw this again last night and during the scene where Giselle and the Prince are walking on the bridge in New York City, you can clearly see the Twin Towers. How can this be?

 Re: Enchanted
I'd give this movie an B+. Amy Adams and James Marsden were fantastic in their roles. Patrick Dempsey was adequate and didn't take away from the movie at all. I haven't laughed so hard at a PG movie in a while. I agree that the movie went downhill a bit after the park musical scene. As far as the animation not being "fully realized", I guess I don't know what that really means, but to me, it seemed like they were knocking off old animation quality. Sort of a reminder to the adults of the old Disney princess movies they watched as children. Umm, I was a bit taken aback by Idina Menzel in this movie. I am only familiar with her by a couple things, like Rent, but I never took notice of her as being unattractive and a bad actress, but apparently she should stick to the stage. Quote: Watching this movie is like having a crush. You love every thing about it even the stuff that you normally wouldn't.
Yup, you nailed it. Also agree with whoever it was that said it needed a better script. I thought it started off strong, but then dropped in quality. Not enough to make me dislike it, though.

 Re: Enchanted
Yeah, I saw it. I wasn't expecting much, apart from some light entertainment, and that's just what I got. It's pretty funny, and surprisingly witty at times, and I enjoyed all the nods to prior Disney works, but it's just too corny at times. I would have liked it if it had played more on the Disney formula instead of falling into it. The songs are fine, though the one at the ball is completely out of place and took me right out of the film. Marsden is probably the highlight, as he doesn't take his role too seriously and looks to be having a lot of fun. Amy Adams is great to look at, but her 'aw shucks' performance eventually got on my nerves. I didn't find it as charming as everyone else did, apparently. Overall, the film's not terrible, but it's nothing special.
