Juno is going to have box office in it's favor methinks. It'll appeal to adults and teenagers. I know a lot of people my age who are very enthusiastically looking forward to it.

Not to mention that it's PG-13, a quality shared by absolutely none of the current contenders. Just noticed that, which is odd.

My arguments remain the same. The response is enthusiastic, but not overwhelming like Little Miss Sunshine's, Sideways' or LiT's. It also won't have the time to build a fanbase until the Oscars and the lack of a directing nom should hurt it too.

yes it could. Similar reviews to LMS, close-to-identical box office to follow, and a better release date for Oscar season.

I don't think it'll win, but if it does, it would make perfect sense. All the other films competing for Best Picture are downers.

Juno seems like the type of movie where I can see it get nominated for all of GG, SAG, DGA, and PGA and still lose out on an Oscar BP nomination. Maybe I'll change my mind after I see the movie though.

Almost Famous redux? Could be.

"Jason Reitman's "Juno" is just about the best movie of the year." - Roger Ebert

His praise only increases from there. Whoa boy.

Ebert's gone soft. He gave Golden Compass ****, for god's sake. More than any of the Rings films!

Roger Ebert has alway been, an will always be, nothing more than an idiot. He's only reknowned because of Siskel. Seriously, he thought Crash was the best film of 2005.

Sorry, but Ebert's not a fool, no matter how many head-smacking things he's done. Remember his pimp slap of Gallo a few years ago?

I think Siskel benefited more from the partnership with Ebert, rather than the other way around.

I disagree with some of what he says, but honestly, if you read any of his reviews, he really does make valid arguments supporting his case...he writes very effectively, and that's why he's just as big a name as he was twenty years ago.

not to mention the show.

The film is a crowdpleaser; it's a lot more accessible than I expected. And I think its box office is going to reflect that.

Which is only going to help its chances at the Oscars.

I think it's ultimately going to be too non-adult, not serious enough to get a nomination.

How very untrue...

See! Proof that Jennifer Garner, and her fan base, bring big interest to her projects! On Diablo Cody's blog she was writing about the première and how she felt for my future wife because she was hounded by the press and needed extra security and couldn't really get to join in with the rest of the cast on the red carpet because of the fuss they all made.

Jennifer Garner actually did pretty good in Juno, I mean good for a TV actress, she almost kept up with the real actors...

Wow, that's a rather silly thing to say. Who was in the cast?

Let's see:

Allison Janney...was on The West Wing for years
Jason Bateman...was on Arrested Development for years (and other things in the 80s)
Michael Cera...was on Arrested Development for years
JK Simmons...was on Oz for years, now on The Closer

...right.

Heh. I wasn't talking about having simply worked on TV. The difference is, Garner acts like a TV actress. She's just a step above Tom Bergeron...

Yeah, next year we should just pencil in whatever movie Ebert pushes. He's a freak.
