While it worked with his character, it was hardly anything more than a "very good performance." If DDL couldn't win over him, I have a feeling the film wasn't even screened for the NBR.'
is it possible the filmed wasn't screened for them? I mean, I'm sorry, but I already know DDL's performance will blow Clooney's out of the water. And from its reviews (9/9 100% with an 8.3 avg), it's getting nothing but raves. I don't see how it would have missed out on ANY mentions unless it just wasn't screened for them.

Re: NATIONAL BOARD of REVIEW WINNERS! Sweeney Todd, now officially a contender. I'm actually surprised. I know the reviews have been glowing, but I remember thinking "big Burton bomb" when I saw the first trailer. Guess not. Good for it, though. I'm excited to see it.
The George Clooney win surprised me, too. The Michael Clayton praise was universal, but I don't remember critics laying heaps of praise upon Clooney. Or did they? Maybe I wasn't paying attention.
Julie Christie, hmmm. I think I've already said how I feel about her: It's a good performance in a good film, but nothing more.
I think the Affleck mention/Amy Ryan win keeps Gone Baby Gone in the running for some of the bigger awards. A Casey Affleck win, though for a different movie, also doesn't hurt.
The Bourne Ultimatum on there doesn't surprise me that much; it was loved. But Lars and the Real Girl does, just because it kind of went under the radar. And The Bucket List, of course, which... has anybody else seen?
Overall a good list, at least in terms of shaking things up a bit.

It was shown to the press over here and the reaction was decent but not enthusiastic. Also Empire Magazine commented on the NBRs that the movie wasn't that good.
