That won't be a franchise if it's ever made. At least it shouldn't be, if it is, that's dumb.

And I don't think HP6 will hit 1B. Even if it beat HP1 DOM, it wouldn't. Japan is the most important factor. HP4 and HP5 made somewhere around half of what HP1 and HP2 did there, which is terrible in comparison. Maybe darker films aren't as well liked, or maybe the Japanese are losing interest in Harry Potter. HP7 should break the trend in Japan, which means it should hit 1B. I don't see why HP6 would break the trend in Japan.

I don't think it will. That would be REALLY quite an incease over the last pics. I see maybe $710-720 million OS, but not quite $740+ million.

Once it's finished, though...we've really got nothing left on "HUGE" worldwide franchises with Star Wars, LOTR, Pirates (for now at least) and Poter finished. Transformers, contrary to popular belief, isn't in their league, at least not overseas. It didn't enjoy outworldly great WoM in pretty much all European countries and in Japan it didn't do hot either. So, no really huge franchises left anymore for a while.

Maayyybe Narnia has a shot at becoming one, but I doubt it. I don't see any Narnia pic passing even $900 million WW.

Transformers is nowhere near LOTR/HP/Pirates, it's not even comparable to Star Wars/Spiderman or the Shrek franchises.

The only franchise I can see getting up there is Narnia, expect the next one to do $500m+ overseas easily. Though it might drop a bit with the third one due to the source material.

Can't see any upcoming franchises being as big as LOTR/HP or Pirates in the forseeable future. We may well start to see some non-franchise pics stealing the top of the box office again. i.e. Avatar

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix actually outdid Narnia domestically by now and will finish with $292 million, $2 million ahead of the last Potter flick. It really pulled in noticable grosses all the way into October, starting in July.

I wonder what the chances are for Half-Blood Price to pass the first Potter flick domestically and worldwide if WoM is solid. Worldwide - pretty good, I'd say. Domestically - tough one...

It's gonna get bigger overseas no doubt, I'm thinking HBP has a good shot at beating At World's End.

This is what I am thinking. It has a chance at passing SS WW as well. Domestic is going to be very hard. Now DH will defintely pass it both.

I think Half-Blood Prince will manage to go over $300 million domestically. Then again, I've said that about pretty much every single Harry Potter movie before it was released.

Well HBP is the first one I think will. I thought POA would do 270-280 (I was way off on that one)
I thought GOF was going to do 275-280, and OOTP 280-285. I think Prince will do it because it is the holiday period and it has an easy slate so far.

Well HP5 has been reinstated at #6.....shocking really, 6 of the Top 10 Films of All-Time worldwide is either a LOTRs, HP or Pirates. :whaa:

With two more Potter films waiting to be released, this number should rise.

That number should be 7 at worse after DH comes out. Shrek and JP should both be knocked out. The Hobbit should knock out The Phantom Menance so there could 9 films on that list that are either LOTR, Potter, or Pirates.

Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows are locks......Hobbit is highly probably......though I think Avatar might be able to shake things up a little...

No franchise still alive has the overseas prowess to crack the Top 10...pics like Shrek, Transformers, Spiderman will need one hell of a Domestic gross to have any shot.
